Warning this article contains Spoilers for this episode.
The Flash has been on the telly box for a few weeks now. Quite frankly, If you've not started watching yet then you really really should be! Episode three proves once again how good this show really is with another very strong entry to the first season.
This is the part where I tell you not to read the article yet unless you've watched this weeks episode. But you know that already. Lets get to the good stuff. (see what I did there?) Although slightly more of a character focused episode this week, it still has its usual quirkiness, intro monologue and weekly villain you'd expect from the show. Which I may add features one of the coolest on the show yet. Having the ability to turn into a cloud of poisonous gas at any time. The episode starts with what looks to be a meeting of various crime bosses in a lavish dining room to find themselves being attacked and suffocated by said cloud of poisonous gas that engulfs the entire room ultimately killing everyone in it. Its pretty cool. |

The motive behind the killings of this weeks villain is that he was essentially ratted out by the crime bosses we see at the beginning of the episode. Later on we learn he has other targets on his list such as the judge that sentenced him to death and the officer that put him behind bars. Joe West, because who else would it be right?
The flashbacks are apparent in this episode like normal, but this time they are not of Barry’s past but of S.T.A.R. Labs employees Cisco and Caitlin’s. During the time leading up to the event that changes Barry into the Flash. Its at this point we are introduced to another potential game changer of a character in this season. Ronnie Raymond. Once again if you know your DC characters then you will know just who this one is. But for the sake of Spoilers, I’ll leave you to figure that out by yourself.
To try and contain the super villains that are appearing throughout the city, this week the S.T.A.R. Labs team or two thirds of it anyway, comes up with an idea for this. However the idea they have relies on using the partly destroyed particle accelerator as a certain prison for super villains (I know right!) This particle accelerator is the main cause of the chaos we see in Central City currently. The reason Cisco and Caitlin more specifically aren’t ok with this though is that Ronnie Raymond was killed during this event.
As he is one of the main technical leads on the particle accelerator project, he puts him self forward to go inside the reactor and change something that will allow the explosion to burst upwards to minimise the damage to the city. Unfortunately for him though his time runs out and Cisco is left with having to close the blast door trapping him inside. Fortunately for the viewers however it means we could see the beginnings of this potential game changer I stated earlier.
Once again this weeks, episode is another very strong addition to the series. It proves that the main focus of the show doesn't always have to be the main character. I still cant believe its only the third episode of the season. We've seen so many cliffhangers, wicked villains and strong character development already and were not even close to the half way point! The pace of the show is as fast as Barry himself and its just absolutely fantastic.
