Battersea Park is a lovely spot in London, in a city filled with parks it can be overlooked but a lovely children's zoo and the magnificent Peace Pagoda help to bring visitors to the South West of London in droves. Yesterday however a rather different attraction drew the gaze of the tech world, the launch of the Honor 20 series.

As a relatively new kid on the block Honor had had to try hard to move into the highly competitive phone market and with each successive launch it had managed to gain ground on the big two in Apple and Samsung. This was a theme within the show with the Honor 20 pro being compared regularly to the flagship devices of both competing brands. This kind of comparison helps to focus the mind but more importantly shows that Honor as a company is not afraid to push the envelope in an effort to overcome their competitors.

The real meat of the situation is however were the devices any good? In a very short answer yes very much so. Honor seem to understand the market they hope to engage with and have designed devices that improve usage to a degree that is hard to disregard. Chiefly among these is the camera on the Honor 20 Pro, the integration of four lenses allows for a quite magnificent array of photographic opportunities from close up Macro Shots to a wide angle view of an island the Capture Wonder tagline of the range feels like an achievable goal. This is especially true considering the main camera has 48MP for you to utilise. There are a few shots below showing off the best of the images you can capture, take into account the low light images as they really do stand out.
Of course having a very fancy camera is all well and good but it needs a few aspects to make it really functional. The first is start up time, from the keynote as well as my limited time with the device we are looking at a second or two from grabbing the phone and unlocking it to starting up your camera app and being ready to rock and roll. This was impressive however the demo phone I tested did not have other heavy usage apps running and it will be interesting to see how well the app startup really is under stressed conditions. So far so good.

One of the biggest issues with a good camera is the need to save them somewhere. Again the Honor20 Pro gives the user a nice reward with 256gb of onboard storage enough to satisfy even the most avid Instagrammers out there. This demographic is certainly a focus of Honor as they try to build their brand recognition throughout the world. The look and styling of the phones are great the casings look vibrant without being garish and feel comfortable in the hand. This mix of practicality with looks is a sure winner and there is still more of the phone to enthuse about which I will do at a later date so keep an eye out for that.

In simple terms though I will be adding the Honor 20 Pro to my list of potential new phones when the time comes for me to pick up a new device, which I hope will be sooner rather than later.
