The Deer God - A Game of Reincarnation

Deer God appeals to me on many levels. I do like a good platformer, the quirkier the better, and this definitely fits the bill. The 3D Pixel art style appeals to me and has obvious inspiration drawn from Swords and Sworcery as well as Fez.

With themes such as religion, reincarnation, karma and revenge, you play as the Deer who has turned the tables on his hunter who has now become the hunted. The Karma system sounds particularly interesting. Your character has various power ups and depending how you behave and use them will determine what sort of entity you return as on your next reincarnation. For instance use your powers destructively and you might be reincarnated as a plant and eaten by a bunny in your next round. The game looks beautiful and the side scrolling parallax effects, night and day cycles and haunting soundtrack add to the whole appeal of the game.

The lead developer is Josh Presseisen,  founder of Crescent Moon Games, with games already under his belt such as; Paper Monsters, Topia World Builder, Siegecraft, and Slingshot Racing. Evan Gipson is the musician on the project, and he's created the haunting ambient music for Deer God.

In terms of rewards, there's plenty to choose from, apart from just buying the game - 3D printed dioramas from the game, Art-books, T-shirts, Hats, Mugs and concept art posters. Take a look at the Kickstarter page in the Widget opposite.
