Review; Death Head #1
The most unnerving issue on this weeks list is Death Head. I have always had a morbid fascination with the garb of plague doctors so the front cover of this issue had me intrigued. Unfortunately the cover also spoils the end of the issue so try to ignore the bottom right hand corner. The story is split into three sections and my guess is each strand follows different members of the the central family unit (I will say this is an observation but I'm pretty sure it's a right call). The family consist of a mum and dad, a rebellious teenage girl and a nerdy younger brother. Although they all feel quite well trodden tropes there is something interesting in each. I will not say this is a must read it feels like it is going for a slow build rather than an in your face spectacle. This does give me some measure of confidence though that the creative team have the confidence to build a story. Artistically is well crafted and with the story on a slow roast this could well be an infectious hit. |
