REMENDER AND DWYER MAKE SKIN CRAWL IN CRAWL SPACE

Hardcover edition collects more than 600 skin-crawling pages

Picture
In March, Image Comics will unearth the horror work of writer Rick Remender (BLACK SCIENCE, DEADLY CLASS, Uncanny Avengers, Captain America) and frequent collaborator Kieron Dwyer (Avengers, Captain America) in an oversized hardcover large enough to crush zombie skulls. CRAWL SPACE OMNIBUS, clocking in at 616 pages, collects Night Mary, XXXombies, Sorrow, Creatures, and Sea of Red and features the art of Kieron Dwyer, Francesco Francavilla, Tony Moore, Salgood Sam, Paul Harmon and Peter Bergting.

In Night Mary, a girl is trained to enter the dreams of the mentally disturbed to aid in their therapy. However, when Mary enters the labyrinthine mind of a serial killer, the boundaries between nightmare and reality begins to break down. Drawn by Kieron Dwyer, Night Mary is an unsettling work of psychological horror.

XXXombies is a grindhouse-style gorefest set in 1977 Los Angeles, where a man shoots his way through a zombie scourge to retrieve his runaway daughter from the drug-fueled underworld of pornographers and gangsters. Co-written by Tony Moore (THE WALKING DEAD), XXXombies is drawn by Dwyer.

Sorrow also draws from the grindhouse tradition, following a group of road-tripping friends who crash their car in small town and find themselves trapped in a bizarre, grotesque world cut off from civilization. Co-written by Seth Peck and drawn by Francesco Francavilla (Black Beetle, Captain America), Sorrow is a harrowing tale in stark black and white.

Creatures, drawn by Peter Bergting (Hellboy: The Rillhorse), and based on a painting by the master of fantasy illustration, Frank Frazetta, imagines Teddy Roosevelt as an adventurer who must thwart an alien plot to help an ancient Mayan demon destroy planet Earth.

The longest of the stories collected in CRAWL SPACE is Sea of Red, drawn by Dwyer, Salgood Sam, Paul Harmon, and Francesco Francavilla. A shipwrecked Spanish sailor questions whether death at sea would have been preferable after he’s rescued by marauding pirates who hunger not for gold but for blood — and turn him into one of them. Nearly five hundred years later, Marco Esperanza will finally get his chance at revenge.

CRAWL SPACE OMNIBUS will be in comic book stores on March 12, bookstores on March 25, and is available for pre-order now. This truly massive collection of horror by one of comics’ top writers is a must-have for Remender’s fans, and the oversized pages showcase this murderers' row of all-star artists in all their gruesome glory.

Picture
Graham Joyce received a standing ovation at the 1,000-strong awards ceremony of the World Fantasy Convention in Brighton on Sunday 2nd November 2013.  Picking up the Best Fantasy Novel Award for an unprecedented sixth time in his career, Joyce was earlier this year diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma cancer.  The event marked his first public appearance since his diagnosis.

Joyce won the Best Fantasy Novel Award for Some Kind Of Fairy Tale, a story in which a young girl thought to have been abducted from the woodlands of the East Midlands returns to her family after twenty years [Gollancz; Paperback £7.99; e-Book £4.99].

Six months ago Joyce had the experience of being revived by an emergency resuscitation team at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.  Joyce said, “Just being able to stand here today is a wonderful award, thanks to the doctors and nurses of the NHS.”

In 1989 Joyce quit his job as a youth worker and went to live and write in a beachside shack on the Greek island of Lesbos.  He sold his first novel after a year in Greece.  Since then he has written twenty novels and numerous short stories. His novels have attracted admirers including Isabel Allende, Iain Banks, A S Byatt and Stephen King.

Praise for Graham Joyce’s award-winning The Silent Land

‘An author in full control of his considerable talents’ THE TIMES

‘In every sense a chiller’ THE INDEPENDENT

‘Compelling’ METRO

‘This tour de force invites comparison to the work of Haruki Murakami and Ian McEwan. So perfectly rendered…both beautiful and devastating…a classic in the making.’ WASHINGTON POST

‘Stark, layered, ominous and yet appealing…luckily for the reader, in the end Joyce delivers relief along with satisfaction and wonder’ NEW YORK TIMES

#NYCC DARK HORSE update Eve Online series and source book coming in 2014

14/10/2013

IT’S A BIG UNIVERSE. BRING A GUIDE.

Picture
CCP Games, the world’s leading independent developer of massively multiplayer games and creators of EVE Online, have partnered with Dark Horse Comics to deliver two amazing books as epic as the online universe from which they are spawned: EVE: True Stories & EVE: Source.

EVE: True Stories is CCP’s first graphic novel and features artwork by Alejandro Aragon (Overlook, 28 Days Later), Tomm Coker (Daredevil Noir, Near Death), Federico Dallocchio (Batman: Arkham Unhinged, Suicide Squad), Dave Ross (Star Wars: The Crimson Empire Saga) and Mark McKenna (Star Wars: The Old Republic). Superstar writer Daniel Way (Wolverine: Origins,Deadpool) will be writing the incredible true stories of the EVE: Online universe.

Inspired by actual player-driven events within the universe of EVE Online, EVE: True Stories adapts one of the greatest gaming stories of the last decade: the fall of the player alliance known as the Band of Brothers. In the early hours of February 5, 2009, one spy single-handedly destroyed the dominant Band of Brothers alliance and brought an end to the Great War, one of the larger and most significant player conflicts in the history of EVE Online. The first story arc of EVE: True Stories is a dramatized account of the action, intrigue and skullduggery that dismantled the galaxy-sprawling superpower.

EVE: True Stories comic issue #1 will be available digitally starting February 19, with subsequent issues following on March 5, March 19 and April 2, 2014.  An anthology of all four comics, EVE: True Stories Collection, will go on sale in hardback edition on June 4 in comic shops everywhere.

EVE: Source is a comprehensive sourcebook and visual guide for the immense universe of EVE Online and DUST 514.  Developed in close collaboration with the EVE and DUST 514 creative teams, this beautiful 184-page, full-color hardcover will immerse readers in the history and lore of EVE Online through never-before-released material detailing the settings, stories, races, and factions of the EVE Universe.

EVE: Source will go on sale March 5, 2014.

New Collaboration Game from Renowned Developers Team Ninja and Keiji Inafune Inspires Digital Comic Series!

Picture
Dark Horse Comics is thrilled to announce a team-up with famed developers Keiji Inafune and Team Ninja! Fans will be introduced to the world of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z with an all-new digital comic revealing essential pieces of this upcoming game!

The Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z digital comic will deliver three exciting vignettes, by writers Tim Seeley and Josh Emmons, with art from Rafael Ortiz.

The three Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z comics will be available for free download from the Dark Horse Digital Store at Digital.DarkHorse.com and through the Dark Horse Comics app (available through iTunes and Google Play).

An all-new, full-color print comic will also be available when the Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z video game arrives in early 2014.

In Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, players will battle fierce zombies as Yaiba, a cyborg ninja who will do anything to get revenge and stay alive. After being cleaved in two, he is brought back to life with cybertechnology. Brandishing his ninja sword and the mecha weapons in his cyborg arm, he slaughters zombies with brutal, over-the-top abandon.

Step into Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, where stunning graphics depict a world gone mad. Hordes of undead can only be stopped by Yaiba’s willingness to use any means necessary to get the job done. Will he kill by turning his cyborg arm into a razor chainsaw for slicing up the undead—or just rip off an opponent’s arms to use as zombie nunchucks? Both possibilities fill Yaiba’s heart with twisted laughter—and the desire to kill more and more zombies!

For more information about Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, be sure to check it out at YaibaNGZ.com, on Facebook at Facebook.com/YaibaNinjaGaidenZ, and on Twitter at Twitter.com/YaibaNGZ.

A unique collaboration project between Team Ninja and comcept founder Keiji Inafune, published by Tecmo Koei America, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be available for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Steam for PC in early 2014. This title has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
