In January, DC Entertainment announced the return of the beloved characters from Hanna-Barbera in all new stories—and this lineup wouldn’t be complete without Jonny Quest and Scooby and the gang! Here, DC Entertainment is officially adding more variant covers from some of DC’s favorite artists!

Future Quest, due out first on May 18, will ship with a total of four variant covers (in addition to the standard cover) and here they are:

DC revealed the standard cover by series artist Evan “Doc” Shaner, Steve Rude's fantastic interpretation of Jonny Quest and his pal Hadji, as well as Bill Sienkiewicz's awesome rendition of Space Ghost.

And now Aaron Lopresti’s epic depiction of the Herculoids and Joe Quinones' Action Heroes variants can be added to that lineup!
Next up is Scooby Apocalypse, out on May 25, which will ship with a total of five variant covers (in addition to the standard cover) and here they are:

DC revealed the standard cover by veteran artist Jim Lee, a tech-savvy Scooby-Doo (complete with Scooby Snack) by Howard Porter, and the mystery hunter Fred Jones from artist Neal Adams.

And now, Dan Panosian delivers the dynamic-duo of Shaggy and Scooby, we see an eerie look at super-sleuth Daphne from Joelle Jones, and Ben Caldwell gives us the coolest techy girl around, Velma (complete with her own drone!)

Future Quest will feature stories by Jeff Parker (Batman '66, Justice League United) with art by Evan "Doc" Shaner (Justice League: Darkseid War:Green Lantern), and Scooby Apocalypse comes from co-writers Keith Giffen (Sugar & Spike, Legends of Tomorrow anthology) and JM DeMatteis. Geoff Johns Reveals JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MEN

10/7/2015

Comments

During Friday’s One on One panel at COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO 2015, JUSTICE LEAGUE writer Geoff Johns revealed his plans for series of one-shots spinning out of his current “Darkseid War” story arc.
Picture
Scheduled for October, JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MEN is a series of six single issues focusing on key characters in the Darkseid War and extends their individual conflicts against the backdrop of universal Armageddon, with Darkseid squaring off against the Anti-Monitor:

Batman – Armed with the godlike power of the Mobius Chair, the Dark Knight has taken on the role of Metreon and plans to use the infinite knowledge of this device to turn Gotham City into a completely crime-free zone!

Superman – Corrupted by the weird energies of Apokolips’ fire pits, Superman has been turned into an angry, violent brute. And only one man can possibly save him: Lex Luthor.

Green Lantern – Oa has been conquered and transformed into a Parademon factory and the Green Lantern Corps is no more! Only Hal Jordan remains to follow a distress call from the last active Lantern seen fighting on Oa: John Stewart

Lex Luthor – At last, Lex Luthor, the new ruler of Apokolips, can do what he never could accomplish on Earth: hold the fate of a world in his hands. But his one failure from the “Darkseid War” continues to keep him from the peace he craves – and only a crazed Superman can help him get it!

The Flash – The Flash takes on the role of death’s harbinger, the Black Racer. And the beneficiary of his first visit is Aquaman!

Shazam! – Instead of accessing the powers of the old gods, Billy Batson now commands the combined powers of the New Gods like Highfather, Mantis and others trapped within the Source Wall. And that’s power that no mortal should possess!

DC COMICS BOMBSHELLS TAKE COMMAND OF AUGUST

Bestselling Line Expands with New Comic Series, Variant Covers and More!

Picture
DC Entertainment’s fan-favorite Bombshells designs take center stage in August with an all-new comic book series, the return of the popular variant cover theme, new statues from DC Collectibles, as well as new product offerings from Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Universe Online. The DC Comics Bombshells designs pay tribute to World War II vintage and historical depictions of classic characters. The Bombshells have become a sensation, and now fans can enjoy these wartime characters in new ways.

DC COMICS BOMBSHELLS will join the Digital First comic line-up with a new ongoing series. Digital chapters will be available starting in July with the first print collection available August 12. Written by Marguerite Bennett and art by Marguerite Sauvage, DC COMICS BOMBSHELLS #1 introduces retro-bombshell versions of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl in an alternate reality where super-powered female heroes are on the front lines in WWII! The full line of Bombshells characters will be introduced as the story unfolds in the months ahead.

"DC COMICS BOMBSHELLS is one of the wildest things I've ever had the pleasure to create--a story of the DC heroines, all the DC heroines, in a crisis that defines themselves as well as their generation," explains writer Marguerite Bennett. "I cannot possibly tell you how excited and grateful I am to be involved in a story this massive and inventive. The series will explore war stories, romances, mysteries, heists, action adventure, and horror in a way that only these characters could do--I cannot wait for this book to drop. Pun very much intended."
"When I was contacted to work on this book, I was attracted by the retro style of the statues, not to mention the most iconic female characters of DC are represented," explains artist Marguerite Sauvage. "And then when I read Marguerite's script, I was really excited and totally convinced by the story, the tone and the universe and time it will take place. In terms of artistic approach, I focused on page layouts and more on graphics than on a realistic approach. I spent a lot of time searching for references to be as accurate as possible to the story and habits of this time period, but keeping in mind it's a parallel universe, so I can take some freedom on details."

Also in August, the newest wave of Bombshells will be celebrated as the variant cover theme for DC Comics’ periodicals. Following the incredible success of the June 2014 Bombshells theme month, the new selection of variant covers expands to feature a cast of iconic DC characters including AQUAMAN, BATMAN, CHEETAH, DICK GRAYSON, GREEN LANTERN, HUNTRESS, KILLER FROST, POWER GIRL, RAVAGER, RAVEN, SUPERMAN, and SINESTRO!

Continuing the success of the bestselling statue line that started the Bombshell phenomenon, DC Collectibles is adding DC Comics' Cheetah and Killer Frost characters to the Bombshells line. Designed by Ant Lucia and sculpted by Sam Greenwell and Tim Miller respectively, these new statues will hit stores in Spring 2016.

DC Bombshells has truly become a fan phenomenon with a variety of items available from Warner Bros. Consumer Products licensees including apparel and accessories from Bioworld, collectible buttons from Diamond Comics, stylized posters from Quantum Mechanix, stickers from At-a-Boy, and PVC figures from Cryptozoic.

Players of the PC and PlayStation game DC Universe Online can also expect to see playable Bombshells Legends characters, in addition to a unique new Episode for players to jump into action alongside them.

VERTIGO TO PUBLISH ‘AMPED’ FROM RENOWNED TELEVISION CREATOR ERIC KRIPKE

Original Creator Owned Series to Debut Fall 2015

Picture
DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, home to creator-driven, standalone and high concept stories, will publish AMPED from acclaimed television creator Eric Kripke (SUPERNATURAL, REVOLUTION).

In the Fall of 2015, AMPED will be released as a six-issue monthly comic book miniseries. The story will follow Josh Jaffe, a neurotic family man who buys an online 'smart pill' to increase his focus and jolt him out of his slump, but he gets much more than he bargained for. To his surprise, the pill gives him incredible strength and power. The story examines both the mighty highs and humiliating lows of being a real-life super hero.

"Eric has such a clever, irreverent cadence which makes him a natural writer for the Vertigo line," stated Executive Editor Shelly Bond. "AMPED promises to be as addictive as its title substance."

"Pretty much everything I've ever written has been insanely influenced by Vertigo, so it's a dream come true to write my first comic there,” said creator and writer Eric Kripke. "AMPED is a project I'm foaming-at-the-mouth passionate about-- and it's also the most personal, warts-and-all story I've ever told.  So I'm having the time of my life writing the comic-- and basing the TV series off the comic, too. I can't wait for readers to read it-- and then down the road, for watchers to watch it."
Created and written by Kripke, AMPED will feature interior art from John Higgins (HELLBLAZER, BEFORE: WATCHMEN) and cover art from Brian Bolland (BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE, THE INVISIBLES). Look out for AMPED in stores and online Fall 2015 from Vertigo--the premiere destination for creator-owned projects and top talent.

VERTIGO TO RELEASE ANTHONY BOURDAIN’S ‘GET JIRO: BLOOD AND SUSHI’

24/3/2015

Comments

“From the crazy awesome mind of Anthony Bourdain…It’s fantastic! This is such a good read.  It’s really funny, it’s really cool.”
– JIMMY FALLON/LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON on GET JIRO!

“Anthony Bourdain is known for his distinctive personality and witty writing.…The graphic novel is fun for food lovers and common diners alike.”

– THE DAILY MEAL on GET JIRO!

“‘Get Jiro!’” unfolds in a dystopian version of Los Angeles where today’s (mostly) polite and academic discussions about food have evolved into grisly gastronomic feuds.… In some ways, “Get Jiro!” represents a coming-full-circle thing for Mr. Bourdain.”
– THE NEW YORK TIMES on GET JIRO!
Picture
Today, Vertigo, the innovative, boundary-pushing imprint of DC Entertainment, announced it will release a prequel to 2012’s GET JIRO! from renowned chef and  New York Times bestselling author Anthony Bourdain (Kitchen Confidential, Medium Raw) along with co-writer Joel Rose (La Pacifica, Kill Kill Faster Faster), interior artist Alé Garza, and cover artist Dave Johnson. Reminiscent of a Yakuza action movie, the original graphic novel GET JIRO: BLOOD AND SUSHI is set in Tokyo and tells the story of how Jiro's two worlds collided as he worked for his father's mob, yet pursued his love of cooking at night to become a chef.

"Where did my ultra-violent sushi chef hero from the previous book come from? What if you were brought up in a family where murder is acceptable practice and making the best sushi on the planet is a shameful secret?” Writer Anthony Bourdain stated, “I wanted to take the story back to its beginnings--in Japan (albeit a slightly-in-the-future, dystopic Japan), and indulge my own enthusiasms for both the place and the many classic genre films that have been made there.  This is fun for me."

“Tony and I wanted to revisit Jiro and go back to his origins," explained co-writer Joel Rose. "We took as our inspiration classic yakuza movies, Ichi the Killer, Battle Without Honor or Humanity, and a slew more. We were also looking for an artist with the chops to do the manga we saw as the book's style, and thus, Alé Garza. We are thrilled to be back and can’t wait for fans to pick up the book.”
"When I was approached to work on the Get Jiro! prequel I was giddy with excitement! The idea of getting to create something with Anthony Bourdain was just so overwhelming,” said artist Alé Garza. “I also knew that I'd have to push myself harder creatively. GET JIRO: BLOOD AND SUSHI, has been just that, a creative push forward for myself as an artist. I'm doing my best to create an emotionally compelling world that fits suit with the previously released book. It's really unlike any thing I've ever taken on."

GET JIRO: BLOOD AND SUSHI will hit shelves and be available for digital download on October 20, 2015. The original graphic novel will be 160 pages and available for $22.99.
