"Page after page of amazement." — Publishers Weekly

“The premise for this graphic novel is really almost too good to be true… and the execution doesn't disappoint.” — Booklist

Will Pinocchio be able to defeat these horrors, avenge his father, and save his friends?

Jensen (Green Lantern Corps) and Higgins (Knights of the Living Dead) present a captivating blend of comedy, horror, romance, and adventure, rooted in the original Italian novel but brought - as if by magic - to new life.

Alexa and Jimmy have worked together previously on Paper Films' "Girl in a Storm", "Weapon of God" and "Forager". This will be the first collaboration between Challenging Studios and Hashtag Comics.

Carpe Noctem scheduled for release Winter 2014

Set in modern Las Vegas, "Carpe Noctem" looks deeper through the glitz and the glamor to reveal a VERY supernatural element within the makeup of the people of Las Vegas.

MAGNETIC PRESS TO PUBLISH “POET” COMIC BOOK SERIES BY TOM DELONGE

23/10/2014

Magnetic Press announced today that they are producing and publishing an original graphic novel series entitled “POET,” created by multi-platinum recording artist and producer Tom DeLonge.  DeLonge, best known as the co-founder and frontman for the legendary punk-pop group Blink-182 and the alternative rock band Angels & Airwaves, created the sci-fi fantasy adventure focusing on Poet Anderson, a “Dream Walker” who roams the realm of dreams, protecting sleepers from dark terrors that threaten to cross over into the waking world.  Produced in conjunction with the upcoming release of the new Angels & Airwaves album, “THE DREAM WALKER,” the POET comic series will serve as a prequel introduction to the universe.
Picture
In addition to the comic series, DeLonge’s production company To The Stars has produced a feature-quality animated short film that will premiere as an Official Selection of the 2014 Toronto International ShortFilm Festival, and debut publicly with the Angels & Airwavesalbum release on December 9th. A trailer for the animated short was released through INDIEwire yesterday, and can be seen here:
The POET comic series will introduce the main character, Jonas Anderson, an imaginative slacker teen who discovers an innate ability to lucid dream, opening the doors to an entire universe of wonders and dangers that effect his waking life in ways that will define his fate forever.  With a story by DeLonge and Ben Kull (Mission Hill, The Oblongs), the series will be illustrated by award-winning artist Djet Stéphane, with covers by several comic industry pillars, including Gerald Parel (Iron Man, Captain America) and Bengal (Naja, Avengers).

“The Dream Walker” album will serve as a concept soundtrack, with songs and tracks exploring facets of lucid dreaming and the Poet universe.  The first track, “Paralyzed”, premiered on Rolling Stone and rocketed onto the Top 10 on iTunes’s Alternative Chart.  A full-length feature film is also in pre-production, as well as a novelization and various iconic collectibles and attire.  The comic book publishing opportunity was brought to Magnetic Press on behalf of To The Stars by Russell Binder at Striker Entertainment, who represents the brand’s entertainment interests.

“We were immediately captured by the ideas behind POET, and the visual direction set by the animated short just blew us away,” says Magnetic Press’s Publisher, Mike Kennedy.  “Working with Tom to help explore this universe he has imagined has been wonderful, and we’re really excited to draw readers into the Dream World with him!”

The three-issue series will debut both digitally and in print this Spring.

All-ages publisher releases new anthology that reaches beyond superheroes

Picture
Art Heroes, a British publisher and comics workshop facilitation team, today announced the launch of Endangered & More Strange Stories, a full colour, all-ages comics anthology. Written by Daniel Clifford, illustrated by Lee Robinson with colour assists from Shaun Balbirnie and edited by Mark E. Johnson, Endangered & More Strange Stories features a time travelling vet, an outlaw cowboy and a group of Newcastle kids who ought to know better than to tangle with monsters...

“We've tried to represent the young readers we meet through our workshops by having a diverse range of stories and characters,” said Daniel. “This comic features stories with a wider appeal than superheroes - time travel, animals, a western and a scary story - and the characters are diverse to represent the young people we meet. There are thousands of young people looking for stories that represent people like them - that's our aim with Endangered & More Strange Stories.”

In keeping with Art Heroes' ongoing goal of getting children engaged with reading and creative activities, Endangered & More Strange Stories also includes back matter from Art Heroes workshops designed to encourage kids to pick up a pen or pencil.

“Endangered is the accumulation of years of hard work, late nights scribbling away and always thriving to be a better artist,” Lee commented. “I can say that it's the first time where I've felt I haven't left anything behind, and I'm immensely proud to put it in people's hands. Putting it together has been a great experience, and I truly hope that this is reflected with the pages.”

Endangered & More Strange Stories is Lee and Daniel's third major collaboration. The team have had their work published by the acclaimed British kids' anthology The Phoenix Comic and have just released a collected edition of their coming-of-age superhero comic, Halcyon & Tenderfoot.

Offering 36 full-colour pages for just £3.50, Endangered & More Strange Stories is available now from ArtHeroes.co.uk and will be on sale in select retailers soon. Art Heroes is also holding a special launch event for the comic at Newcastle City Library on Saturday October 25th. Lee and Daniel will be on-hand to hold a free kids' workshop on time travel and scary comics as well as sign and sketch in copies of the anthology. Art Heroes will also be appearing at the following events, where attendees will be able to get a signed copy of the comic at a discounted rate:

 Sunday 26th October: Seven Stories, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm
Monday 10th November: Northern Children's Book Festival event

HOUSE OF M #1 coming in Summer 2015

Thoughts by Phil Cole
Picture
So, Marvel appears to be revisiting a lot of the older properties (from a time when I first began my love affair with comics) - Are they setting the stage to hype up new movie storylines (as the new Civil War story Arc comes just before the rumours that Captain America 3 will feature that same story), or is it just a coincidence?

While checking out the artist alley at New York Comic Con, I stopped by the booth of Jonboy Meyers, who was about to start a quick sketch of Todd McFarlane's "Spawn"

See a glimpse of the future, as Jonboy will be taking over from current Spawn artist Simon Kudranski, with the 1 shot "Spawn Resurrection" in February 2015 before continuing on the main series.
