Issues #1 and #2 fast-tracked to second printings

“The Discipline is a dark, suggestive, and ultimately interesting look at what goes with the world after dark. Be it monsters or men, we are all slaves to the night.” --Fangoria

Image Comics is pleased to announce that the new ongoing erotic thriller THE DISCIPLINE by the creative team behind The Names, writer Peter Milligan (X-Force/X-Statix) and artist Leandro Fernandez (Punisher, Queen & Country),
launched to critical-acclaim and high fan enthusiasm. Both THE DISCIPLINE #1 and #2 issues are being fast-tracked to second printings in order to keep up with customer demand.

Between fighting with her sister and hating her husband, Melissa still finds time to fall in lust with a stranger who's an awful lot more than he seems. In THE DISCIPLINE #1, what appears to be a simple seduction is revealed as something much darker and more dangerous. This controversial and erotically-charged tale of sex, death, and metamorphosis begins with an explosion of carnality and weirdness.

By DISCIPLINE #2 Melissa is drawn deeper into a strange hidden world and realizes that her affair with Orlando isn’t just about sex. She discovers more about the Discipline, their weird enemy known as the Stalkers, and her own frightening potential.

THE DISCIPLINE #1 and #2 remain available for purchase across all digital platforms, including the Image Comics website (imagecomics.com), the official Image Comics iOS app, Comixology’s website (comixology.com), iOS, Android, and Google Play.

“Rat Queens” Kurtis Wiebe Brings “Bounty” This Summer

8/4/2016

Comments

Picture
Dark Horse Comics is happy to announce that Rat Queens Eisner Award-nominated writer Kurtis Wiebe is bringing his latest creator-owned series to readers this summer with the arrival of Bounty #1.

This ongoing series sees Wiebe join forces with pop-comic sensation Mindy Lee to present a femme-fatale sci-fi caper of epic proportions!

“Bounty is strongly my voice and one of my favourite comics I've ever written,” says Wiebe.   “While it's about sisters who hunt criminals in the future, it is ultimately about the nature of family and the trust we share with those closest to us.  With a little bit of action and romance on the side. What Mindy Lee is doing with the art is unlike anything I've seen in comics before.”

The Gadflies were the most wanted criminals in the galaxy. Over the years, they’d stolen from the galaxy’s most evil corporations and redistributed their ill-gotten gains to the less fortunate. Doing so earned them a reputation as the roughest outlaws in the universe—with a bounty to match! Now, with the law closing in on them, the Gadflies are forced to abandon their bandit personas in favor of a new career as bounty hunters . . . ’cause if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em—then rob ’em for all they’re worth!
It’s Rat Queens meets Firefly!

Bounty #1 debuts on July 6 and retails for $3.99.  Preorder a copy today at your local comic shop.

Praise for Wiebe:

“With an honest love for the genre, Wiebe [is] building an impressive addition to the sword and sorcery genre of comics.”—Newsarama

“Wiebe fully understands the story he wants to tell. There's a confidence to his writing, a sense of direction.”—IGN
“Wiebe holds nothing back through his situational humor and his ability to turn clichés on their heads.”—Comic Book Resources

“Wiebe delivers, piping some fun and freshness in an otherwise overdone genre.”—Comics Bulletin

“The first issue of Wiebe’s new series is a roaring success as far as I’m concerned.”—Population Go

“I recommend checking in on the ground floor because it’s positioning itself as one of the most compelling stories of the new year.”—iFanboy

Evanier and Aragonés Deliver “Groo: Fray of the Gods”

8/4/2016

Comments

Picture
Announced today at Emerald City Comicon, Dark Horse will deliver a new ongoing Groo series: Groo: Fray of the Gods.
This twelve-issue limited series features a tale told by the same award-winning creative team as always: Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier, with Tom Luth coloring and Stan Sakai on the lettering pen.
The gods did not bless Groo with brains, only with the ability to battle. Now, they themselves are in conflict over the spirit and future of mankind…and it is Groo who becomes the pawn (unwitting, of course) in their war. If the future of humanity depends on the Wanderer—we’re all in a lot of trouble.
Groo: Fray of the Gods #1 is on sale July 20, 2016.  Preorder your copy today at your local favorite comic shop.
Praise for Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier’s Groo:
“[Aragonés’s] style is so established, cartoony, and consistent that there’s never a doubt that you’ll get anything but pure magic out of him.”—Multiversity Comics
“Longtime Groo fans will find a lot to love here.”—Newsarama

JEFF LEMIRE’S “Black Hammer” Ongoing Series Back on Track

7/4/2016

Comments

Picture
After a series delay, Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce the return of Xeric Award–winning and Eisner, Ignatz, and Harvey Award–nominated cartoonist JEFF LEMIRE and artist DEAN ORMSTON’s much-anticipated original ongoing series BLACK HAMMER.

From the prodigious brain of Lemire (Descender, Sweet Tooth, Essex County, A.D.: After Death, Plutona) comes Black Hammer, a character-based superhero drama amazingly brought to life by Ormston (Lucifer, The Sandman) with colors by none other than Eisner Award–winning veteran Dave Stewart.

Once they were heroes, but the age of heroes has long since passed. Banished from existence by a multiversal crisis, the old champions of Spiral City—Abraham Slam, Golden Gail, Colonel Weird, Madame Dragonfly, and Barbalien—now lead simple lives in a timeless farming town. Even as they try to find their way home, trouble has a unique way of finding heroes wherever they are!
“Black Hammer has been a labor of love for me,” says Lemire. “It’s a project that I’ve been working on in various forms for seven years.”

With a variant cover by Lemire, Black Hammer #1 launches on July 20 and retails for $2.99. Preorder your copy today at your local comic book store.

Praise for Black Hammer:

“At once an epic, gripping superhero mystery, and a heartfelt meditation on why superheroes matter, Black Hammer is easily one of Lemire’s best creations. Peopled with fantastic characters like the haunting Colonel Weird and the mysterious Madame Dragonfly—each made wondrously vibrant by Ormston’s pen--Black Hammer is a place you too will find nearly impossible to leave.”—Scott Snyder (Wytches)

“On my pull list by the time I got to page five.”—Mark Waid (Kingdom Come)

“Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer feels like it’s walking two roads—one honoring the past of superhero comics, and one forging a path into the future of the genre.”—Cullen Bunn (Harrow County)

“Black Hammer feels like a superhero story through an X-Files lens; it’s strange and melancholy and real. The tale evokes an immense world filled with typically deep Lemire-ian themes of isolation, joy and simplicity. I can’t wait to see where he goes from here.”—Charles Soule (Star Wars: Poe Dameron, Letter 44)

“Jeff Lemire, one of the most gifted writers currently working in comics, has produced another powerhouse work with Black Hammer. Combining the ‘country gothic’ feel of his own Essex County with the world of superheroes, the end result is something truly fresh, exciting and fun. I need more now!”—James Robinson (Airboy, Starman)

Animal Man, Swamp Thing Artist to Draw New Adventures of “That Modern Stone-Age Family”

Picture
“From the town of Bedrock, they’re a page right out of history…”

Writer Mark Russell (Prez) and artist Steve Pugh will bring readers their version of Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm in the debut issue of The Flintstones, on sale July 6.

In this 40-page extra-sized premiere issue, fans will be introduced to the town of Bedrock, where Paleolithic humans dine on artisanal prepared mammoth after shopping at the Neandertall & Big Men’s Clothing stores, get the latest news via cave painting, and folks drive foot-powered cars. Join Fred and Barney as Mr. Slate sends them on a mission to show some Neanderthals a night on the town in hopes of luring them into this new system of “working for a living” – in his quarry, of course! Find out what happens to Fred and the gang when they finally get to learn how Bedrock’s “one percent” lives in this satirical take on life in the world’s first civilization this summer!

In the meantime, check out the debut cover to issue #1 by Steve Pugh and the great variant covers by Ivan Reis (DC Universe: Rebirth Special), Walt Simonson (Batman: Black and White Vol. 2), and Dustin Nguyen (Batman Eternal, Batman: Li’l Gotham).
