For years I have thought about playing World of Warcraft, the idea of a broad fantasy based romp appeals to me in ways other games have yet to manage. However there have been a number of things that have held me back from taking the plunge. Highest on the list has always been the worry of joining to a well established title as a true noob. Well thanks to doing a bit of digging via the interweb and more importantly chatting with two of the sites WoW fans Phil and Jamie today is the day I took the plunge and started my first foray in Blizzards epic. |
Firstly getting to trial the game is very easy. You download a free trial from Blizzard, install Battle.net and then it's time to start downloading. As the game comes down you have two options to start to play after a few minutes for a less than perfect experience or wait quite a while longer for an optimal amount of the download to come down. I was surprised how quickly I could start and then I was thrown into an advert for Warlords of Draenor. This was very polished and showed a pretty epic battle. When it finished I went into start creating my character. For full disclosure I was always going to be a Panda so the Pandarian Monk was my choice. Thanks to a handy code from Phil I was directed to choose a character compatible with faction he plays in. This seemed like a great move as it helped me know what character to choose. After making the difficult choice of naming my Panda (he is called Wellbe) and then making him look like a mean ass Panda it was time to begin.. |
Unfortunately my first game was disrupted as my daughter needed to be fed.The lack of a pause button has been one of biggest issues with playing an MMO and to be honest this was realised pretty quickly into my first game. The trouble is I am really enjoying the World of Warcraft, the tutorial is fun and the combat system is fun and rather user friendly. Now my worries have be lessened I will be putting some time into WoW and reporting back here when I do. |
