I am a note maker extraordinaire; my brain usually runs at 300 miles per hour as I fight to control the ideas that pop into my head. These pages should bare testament to that fact. I often use my phone to snap down small ideas but I find writing on paper helps me to evolve my ideas more cohesively. I’m not sure why but there is something very familiar about sketching out ideas on paper that you do not get on most physical devices. I will also admit I do like to have nice things and so I will share with you my latest journal. From the device on the front cover it should be obvious where this book has its roots, but the name of Lannister below will confirm that yes this is a Game of Thrones related book. Why I choose the book that supports the Wardens of the West may come as a surprise (but I will talk about that elsewhere) but the main physical draw was the colour. The strong Red of Lannister looks quite imposing and I do like to think that way about my ideas (although lots are not on an important level at all). Thankfully the book is not just aesthetically pleasing but very functional as well with a strap to keep the covers together and more importantly a ribbon on the inside so I can easily keep my place. The fact it looks golden is a nice nod to the richest house in Westeros. |
If you like the tactile feel of a writing book then this really is a lovely purchase it will not be for all but if like me you like to have something of substance then I can recommend the Insight Editions Game of Thrones series of journals. The choice becomes with which house will you swear your allegiance?
