Top 3; Borderlands 2 by the Platform.

24/8/2015

I love Borderlands 2, so much so that I own it on three separate platforms (and twice on the PS3). The dialogue, comedy and loot systems are second to none in my opinion. This list focuses on my favourite experiences of the game throughout the three versions I have played.

3) Vita Version

It has its flaws and may not be as polished as other platforms but the Vita version is still a fun title. The sync with the PS3 works perfectly allowing players to play the game on the move then get home and resync and continue a spot of loot hunting.

The controls are fiddly and you will die more than on the console version but if you can shake these shortcomings then line me you could enjoy this ambitious port.
2) PC Version

Simply the best graphical version; however with a game like Borderlands this is not the be all and end all of the experience.

The controller support is spot on but I used this game to really try to improve my mouse and keyboard control. I enjoyed my time on PC but it was lacking one major aspect...

1) PS3 Version

One term makes my time spent on the PS3 time rule "Co-Op" I played through the majority of the game with fellow BCer Jon and to say we had a blast is an understatement. From shooting the breeze to dividing loot to strategizing the take down of bosses, everything was better in Co-Op. Games are more than just the story, graphics and gameplay it's the experience that counts which is why Borderlands 2 on PS3 is my one of my favourite gaming experiences of all time.

The PWR list

PWR stands for Play, Watch, Read and if you look above you can see they are our three main sections on the site. Obviously with the wide scope of the site sometimes the things I am enjoying can be lost.

The reason for these articles is to highlight some of these in order to let you in some of the treasures I have been consuming.

There will be times I point you towards reviews on the site from other writers. I may agree with the assessment but also I may have different views which I will put forward here.

For now though look out for the PWR list

FIFA 15 Demo initial thoughts

12/9/2014

Picture
For some the end of the Transfer window is one of the biggest events of the Summer, for me though it signifies only a few weeks to wait to sample this years FIFA demo. Last year was my first year on PC and I was pleased to get stuck in to a FIFA title although I was a little upset that the Ignite engine that was making waves on the XboxOne and PS4 was absent. This year  though EA Sports have decided to catch the PC up and lift the game above its predecessors.

So I thought I would dive into the game and what you can see below is my first try at the game complete with a spot of commentary.

Gameplay on Deadpool table from Zen Pinball 2 / Pinball FX 2

27/6/2014

I'm a huge Pinball fan and Zen Studios are the masters at digitising the Silver ball.
This video is from their latest offering from the world of Marvel, it features Deadpool and to say it's a blast feels somewhat understated.

You can watch below but we also have a full review which you can see here

Random Chat; For the love of FFA; Call of Duty Ghosts; Hunted Free for All

6/3/2014

My first look at Call of Duty Ghosts did not go according to plan. I have tried a few times over the last few days to get some footage of this mode but to no avail. So today I changed tact and created a video with the help of a few computer generated helpers. The gameplay is pretty sweet but please be aware I am playing privately with bots.
As always if you like hate or are indifferent to the video please leave a comment or thumb up/down.
I thank you for reading this far and I bid you farewell.

Random Chat; World of tanks Tips; using Artillery to your advantage in the early levels.

18/2/2014

This video (at the bottom of the post) came about after a brief chat on Twitter about the toughness of WoT in the early stages. As you can see in the exchange below.
This is a little trick but one I hope so,e will find useful.
The second part of the video shows how not to play this game.

Random Chat; Titanfall Thoughts and Beta Gameplay

17/2/2014

As a spoiler this game has hooked me.
First Person Shooters have a habit of making players fell like Gods or else make them feel worthless. One of the unique aspects aspects of Titanfall is no matter your skill you can feel like a God among Men.
In this video I have tonnes of fun in a Titan or two as well as get some kills and more than a dash of deaths.

Special thanks to @ILoveMalteaser1 for sorting me out with a Beta code a wonderful gesture and very much appreciated.

Random Chat; Pain from 12 yards out FIFA 14 Penalty Discussion.

Why are penalties so difficult?
As an Englishman I have had my fair share of penalty heartbreaks but what is it about the 12 yard spot that makes scoring so difficult?
In this video I take a look at how FIFA 14 makes the task of penalty taking a bit of a chore and also have a little think at last nights penalty shootout featuring Manchester United &  Sunderland

Random Chat; Why I think K'nex bringing the Titanfall Titans into the physical world is a great move for the gaming franchise.

22/1/2014

The trouble for new IP's is creating a strong enough player base to keep their product moving. As it stands Titanfall is already a little hamstrung as it is a Microsoft exclusive and this limits the market that will get actual hands on with the game.

Enter trans media by linking with a toy creator like K'nex the folks at Respawn have started tapping into their future market. For a single game to become a franchise you need to engage these future clients as they will be the new players for the next instalment. If they already know the name then the likelihood of them opting for your franchise is raised significantly and that is half the battle already won. The rest is of course up to the game to hang on to the new entrants.

Of course from what I have seen these are great toys in their own right and at the very least we should be getting some great new additions to the K'nex world.

London Gets Its First Glimpse of Titanfall™ Licensed Building Toys by K’NEX®

I had a little hands on time with a prototype of the Titanfall toys and they look like they will be a great addition to the game. If you think getting hold of the early Titan models included in the Collectors edition of the game will run at nearly £300 this nifty model will give hours more pleasure* at a more affordable price.
One of the most highly anticipated video games of 2014, Titanfall™, is set to be transformed from onscreen play into the world of building sets with new licensed building toys by K’NEX. The new range will launch in the UK in autumn 2014, but visitors to the London Toy Fair gained an advanced sneak peek of the collection.
The K’NEX® Titanfall™ Building Sets come as a result of an agreement between Respawn Entertainment, creator of the game which is set to release on March 11, 2014, and K’NEX. The relationship combines the award-winning K’NEX® building system with the Titanfall World, bringing it from the digital screen to the construction aisle for the first time. With over 80 prestigious gaming awards earned before the game’s launch, Titanfall™ is full of exciting, explosive and thrilling action, and appeals to gamers of all ages. Titanfall™ will be available on Xbox 360®, Xbox One®, and PC.
Paul Fogarty, Managing Director of K’NEX UK comments:
“We’re delighted that the Titanfall™ Building Sets will be joining our collection, and that we are able to reveal a glimpse of them here at the London Toy Fair. The game pre-launch buzz is already generating a huge following and fans of all ages will be able to build the Titanfall Frontier in their own homes.
“As always our strong licensed portfolio continues to combine the open-ended creativity of K’NEX® with the characters that children love,” says Fogarty.
Sets in the collection by K’NEX will include popular characters such as Pilots, multiple Titans, Spectres and other key themes from the video game. Designed for builders ages 8+, the building sets will bring the fun of the game to life, and expand its appeal through a rewarding, age- appropriate K’NEX building experience.

The random chat is changing a little to be just as the title says. This is going to function as my place to chat about things that can come from anywhere, from TV to films to Sport to gaming. Most things are up for discussion even though I will avoid the key no no's like Religion, Politics and Macro Economics (Micro economics of the gaming/comics world though is still fair game) and of course the biggie whether the Spice Girls were the greatest musical group of all time or not. I hope to bring a taste of something different in these posts and please feel free to comment where you see fit.

Also this will be a test bed for some of my stranger ideas so be warned.
