This is the first show of Random Chat. It is a sister cast to our main Podcast and will feature guests coming on to talk about specific topics in one of our main areas Play, Watch or Read as well as the odd random issue.
So please keep an eye out for the show to hit iTunes, Stitcher and other podcast apps in the near future but for now join your host Paul as he chats with Matt about Mark Millar's Starlight.
From book to comic to TV show the strain has become become something of a phenomenon. I have read some of David Lapham's work on the Strain comic and it really is a great read.
So it was with baited breath that I waited to see the first episode of the TV show. A wait that was made even longer thanks to the delay in the show coming over the pond to the UK. Due to this I am only on episode 8 so think of this as a just over mid season review.
Firstly this is a slow burn, the story has taken its time to build and even now all the threads are still waiting to be brought together. The genius is however how all the central players are fully rounded characters and as time has gone on they have all been affected by the Strain in one way or another. Essentially it feels like getting the band together for the major part of the plot to start.
The most engrossing post of the story however is the strain itself, I'm a Physilogist by training so love anything with a biological principle and the Strain had taken vampirism to a whole new level. Obviously there has to be done suspension of disbelief for the principle to work but the foundations are intriguing. I do warn you though if you are squeamish this may be a show to avoid.
For now though the Strain is at the top of my watch list.
The Strain is available on Watch in the UK
PWR stands for Play, Watch, Read and if you look above you can see they are our three main sections on the site. Obviously with the wide scope of the site sometimes the things I am enjoying can be lost.
The reason for these articles is to highlight some of these in order to let you in some of the treasures I have been consuming.
There will be times I point you towards reviews on the site from other writers. I may agree with the assessment but also I may have different views which I will put forward here.
For now though look out for the PWR list
What this is
The random chat is changing a little to be just as the title says. This is going to function as my place to chat about things that can come from anywhere, from TV to films to Sport to gaming. Most things are up for discussion even though I will avoid the key no no's like Religion, Politics and Macro Economics (Micro economics of the gaming/comics world though is still fair game) and of course the biggie whether the Spice Girls were the greatest musical group of all time or not. I hope to bring a taste of something different in these posts and please feel free to comment where you see fit.
