Preview; The Beauty #7
By Paul Fiander
The Beauty as a concept was fascinating, an STD that people are desperate to catch has all the hallmarks of a winning idea. Thankfully the creative team behind the series were able to follow their idea up with a strong first arc that left things in a rather precarious position. With this second arc the team have kicked things off in style with a rather tough dude in a plaid shirt and a whole lot of violence.
The seventh issue of the Beauty is released on May the 18th but we were able to get a look into the new issue and it really is a tour De force for guest artist Mike Huddleston as he gets to go a little mental in the first half of the book. Without saying too much things get crazy and more than a little blood is shed. The action that leads up to the loss is cool as we change perspectives multiple times on each page, not only this but there's also a spot of x-ray imagery to view within some of the panels. I'm not sure how much fun Huddleston had creating the art but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this issue. Look out for the cheeky nod within the issue to the regular Beauty artist Jeremy Haun. I can honestly admit that I did not expect an issue like this to kick things off, the change of focus works to get us reintroduced to the world of the Beauty. Not only that but it also shows us why the disease is so desirable to people despite the fact it's an STD. I'm hoping we get back to the main plot at some point and whether this issue is an introduction to a new character or a show of how people are living in this new world makes no difference it certainly is worth reading.
