The game opens with you playing as a character who seems to be the sole survivor of a battle between the Templars and The Mages, the two warring factions from the previous games. The battle has also caused, through a series of space/time twisting explosions, a massive hole in the sky to appear, through which hordes of demons are now pouring. This fragility in the the ‘Veil’, the wall between the realm of mortals and the realm of the spirits, allows for those annoying demons to pop up all over the place and cause you no end of bother. Good thing then that the explosion seems to also have gifted you with powers beyond any normal person.
The game looks stunning and Bioware are the market leaders in the decision-based RPGs that we so enjoy spending our time playing. Combine excellent voice-acting, a stunning soundtrack, an epic world to explore with open ended replayability and a satisfying combat system and it looks like Dragon Age: Inquisition will be setting the standard for RPGs on the latest generation of consoles.
Dragon Age is now available on XBox One since the 21st November.
