MCM Expo is to further expand its eSports activity through a new partnership with the UK division of the Electronic Sports League (ESL), the world's largest and oldest international eSports organisation. Starting with this month's MCM London Comic Con, which will play host to League of Legends invitational and open tournaments, the eSports areas at MCM events will now be known as 'MCM eSports Powered by ESL'.
"With their vast competitive gaming expertise, ESL are the natural partners to help us grow the eSports side of our shows," said MCM co-organiser Paul Miley. "There has been a massive boom in eSports in recent years, and this has been reflected in the soaring popularity of games tournaments at MCM London Comic Con and our other events. By teaming up with ESL UK, we will be able to offer our visitors an even richer eSports experience."
"It is truly exciting to be partnering with the MCM eSports team for MCM London Comic Con, they have an amazing audience that time after time proves they have a passion for eSports," said Chris Elt, Sales Director for ESL UK. "It's a perfect commercial partnership for both parties, one that allows us to focus on our primary goal, the growth of eSports within the United Kingdom. It's going to be a fantastic event, one that will create exciting opportunities in the future for the entirety of the UK."
Commenting on the upcoming MCM London Comic Con, ESL UK Community Manager Peter Mather added: "It should be a fantastic weekend of League Of Legends activity, seeing some of the best names from across the United Kingdom converge in front of one of the biggest audiences in the UK. This will be one of our biggest events yet in the United Kingdom, and we can't wait to get the crowds cheering at ExCeL London."
