Gaijin Entertainment have announced a new initiative aimed at rewarding players who create content shared in War Thunder with a portion of the revenue generated by their creations.
Since April, “War Thunder Live” allowed players and community members to produce their own content for the massive multiplayer war simulator, with the ability to design, upload and share missions, skins and vehicle models. This also allows shared content to be commented on and “liked”, with players discussing their thoughts on the designs and creations.
Not stopping there, Gaijin announced that the v1.43 update to War Thunder would see content creators receiving a piece of the pie, with the best user-created content being incorporated into the game and making it available for purchase to all War Thunder players. Content successful enough to be incorporated into the main game, Gaijin Entertainment say, could earn up to “25% of the adjusted gross revenue from any sales their content make, less taxes and other applicable fees”. That’s a lot of Golden Eagles.
Gaijin’s Content Developer Kit (CDK) is available for download today, with the Gaijin stating that anyone could create content for War Thunder depending on the creators skill level. Basic knowledge of design programs should be enough for skins and paint work, with more advanced skills necessary for vehicle models and missions.
This is definitely an interesting idea and by allowing the community to play such a large role in development, could win over the hearts and minds of players from competing titles.
