World of Warships Closed Beta Embarks Today

12/3/2015

Picture
Players can now sign-up for all the Closed Beta action
Action Stations! The World of Warships Closed Beta has left port to begin testing today. The times for each region are as follows: Europe 11:00 CET; North America 11:00 PST; Asia 17:00 SGT. Players can sign-up to seize the wheel of many iconic mid-20th century vessels by heading to the official World of Warships website now.

In the Closed Beta, players can test their skills across five original maps and lead the quest of supremacy commanding over 50 U.S. and Japanese warships. In the future, World of Warships will add Japanese aircraft carriers and U.S. battleships to its ever-increasing fleet.

Four classes of warships offer a lot of tactical diversity. Cruisers are nimble vessels; the destroyers’ torpedoes are great for obliterating enemies; battleships are devastating heavy-hitters; aircraft carriers are unmatched in their reconnaissance and sneaky offensives.

Crews (represented by warship commanders) play a key role in gameplay. Levelling up Commanders and gaining points allow players to improve a variety of skills to suit their playstyle. With Modernizations, a ship’s offensive and defensive capabilities can be enhanced.

In Divisions mode, players work together in team of up to three to challenge other opponents. In the future, many battle accomplishments and customization options will be available.

The continuing interaction between the World of Warship developers and the expectant public is something I wish more developers would do. It makes it easier to understand the creation process and so will hopefully craft a better dialogue between both groups.
Any way its on with Q&A Number 4

World of Warships introduces the Battleship USS Texas

23/3/2014

Along with the 100th anniversary, we are proud to announce the addition of Texas ship into World of Warships.
Picture
When referring to military ships, 100 years is a very respectable age. Given that, we are excited to announce that March 12 this year marks the 100th anniversary of the well-known battleship USS Texas. This grand vessel is a veteran of both World War I and WWII, having taken part in Operation Torch and the disembarkation in Normandy. Today, the World of Warships team celebrates this veteran ship and its heroic crew!

Along with the 100th anniversary, we are proud to announce the addition of Texas to World of Warships! The ship will appear in-game as a tier V New York-class battleship. When researching the module, you will see various changes that were made to the ship during its long service. For example, instead of lattice masts on Texas, you may see more modern tripod variations.

World of Warships How to; Fire major calibre guns

23/3/2014

Picture
Although naval artillery first appeared as a main armament in the days of sailing ships, it reached its highest stage of development in the first half of the 20th century. In World of Warships, military equipment revisits this historical period, and being in control of major calibre, that is to say, major artillery weapons, is an important part of gameplay.

For some classes of ship, such as battleships and cruisers, these guns are the only way to destroy the enemy. For others, such as cruisers equipped with torpedo tubes, or destroyers, they are not as important. Many aircraft carriers have no major calibre guns and their weapons are consigned to being secondary artillery weapons.
There are many different turret configurations, each of them designed for a specific task by naval architects. In some projects, the main goal was to provide maximum broadside firepower, in others – the most efficient forward firepower. The location of major calibre guns could also be dictated by technical factors like weight or other restrictions. As expected, turret configuration will affect gameplay directly and the differences between them will be obvious for players.

Wargaming.net, War Child UK is launching the campaign Real War Is Not A Game

4/12/2013

Below the divider is the full press release for the new joint venture between War Child and World of Tanks.
Its a bold link for the two organisations but I think the message that the reality of War is far removed from its on screen depiction is an important one.
Games are not the only medium that depicts war but the active way companies like Wargaming are supporting this initiative shows their commitment to educating as well as entertaining their player base.

To find out more you can read below or please consider going to the War child website to donate.

World of Tanks partners with War Child UK to engage the gaming world in the reality of war for children

Picture
Wargaming.net and War Child UK share the belief that Real War Is Not A Game. To raise awareness of the real, unacceptable issues that children face in conflicts around the world today, in partnership with Wargaming.net, War Child UK is launching the campaign ‘Real War Is Not A Game’ to engage the wider gaming industry in these issues.

Wargaming.net is a major Free to Play publisher that has raised with its success the awareness for history and education of history with a wide audience of players.  We strongly believe that with success comes also the responsibility to give back and support the community. As such, Wargaming.net has made many efforts to support museums such as the Bovington Tank Museum where it has funded their educational classroom for example.

Between 20th and 27th of September Wargaming.net sold three “Charity Packages” on their World of Tanks Gift Shop, a quarter of the total sales revenue would be donated to the Charity War Child UK who help children affected by the consequences of conflict in the real world.

Wargaming presented a cheque to War Child, the total amount raised was €100,000. Attending these preceding where:

o   Rob Williams, CEO War Child UK

o   Rinaldo Andreolli, General Manager, Wargaming Europe SAS

o   Ben Knowles, Fundraising Director, War Child UK

o   Richard Cutland, Military Specialist, Wargaming Europe SAS

Armoured warfare is something that Wargaming.net believes should take place on people’s PCs at home and not in the real world. By supporting museums and other educational institutions that showcase the atrocities and consequences of armoured warfare, we try to support the efforts of ensuring that history is not forgotten and that people will not repeat the mistakes of the past that have brought so much suffering to so many people.

We are however consciously aware that in reality many children around the globe are affected by the horrific consequences of warfare and are in dire need of assistance. Children are always hit hardest by conflict. They are beaten, raped and tortured; their homes, families and schools are destroyed - everything a child needs to build a better future for themselves is lost.

Given these realities, Wargaming.net has been on the lookout for an organization that shares our belief that children are not only innocent but also our only hope for a better future. Protecting children and helping them overcome the horrific conditions they are exposed to in armoured conflicts around the globe is an imperative that Wargaming.net would like to support.

With War Child UK we have found a partner that is exceptional in many ways. War Child is not only actively promoting and helping to create conditions in conflict zones that allow children to be protected from the immediate effects of armoured conflicts, but is doing much more than that. By enabling children to receive an education and assisting families and young adults in acquiring skills that will allow them to make a living from a sustainable income on their own, War Child’s activities make a lasting difference in the life of many.

We are gladly supporting War Child’s efforts both financially as well as through raising War Child’s profile within our community. By alerting more people to the crucially important work War Child is doing, we hope to be helping to raise more funds so that War Child can reach and help more children.

World of Warplanes Launched at 5000 Meters above Sea Level

22/11/2013

Keen gamers celebrate project’s release in Himalayas

Wargaming, the leading free-to-play MMO developer and publisher, has revealed details of the Everest expedition, organized by seven World of Warplanes players who have tackled the treacherous slopes of the Himalayas to commend the release of the game.
Picture
“Although it’s not the first time we’ve climbed in the Himalayas, this expedition has been an amazing and special journey for us all,” says the team’s leader Arseniy Gerasimenko. “We’ve broken several new trails, which was a hard, but satisfying experience. On our way upward, we stopped to get some rest and play World of Warplanes.”
The hardy Russian and Ukrainian sportsmen, who are also avid World of Warplanes players and fans, spent over a month climbing in the steep flanks and ice covered cliffs, eventually reaching an altitude of 5000 meters. The group celebrated the official launch of the flight combat MMO action game by setting up the World of Warplanes flag on one of the Himalayan peaks.

About World of Warplanes

World of Warplanes is a flight combat MMO action game set in the Golden Age of military aviation. Throwing players into a never-ending tussle for air dominance, the game allows aircraft enthusiasts to pursue full-scale careers as virtual pilots, earning their wings in intense 15-vs-15 battles where supremacy in the air depends not only on a fast trigger ringer, but also coordinated teamwork.

Players can choose from three main warplane classes: swift fighters capable of engaging enemies in close dogfights, heavy fighters with deadly straight attacks and formidable armor, and ground-attack planes, able to unleash bombs and other armaments against even the most fortified ground targets.

World of Warplanes features more than 100 vehicles from Germany, the Soviet Union, USA, Japan, and Great Britain. Every warplane has multiple modular configurations, allowing for customization across weapons, ammo types, engines, and other aircraft components. These components can be mixed and matched to provide players with the ability to outfit their warbird for any combat situation or role.
