Coming Out of the Shadows: Stealth Inc 2 Announced

1/5/2014

Picture
To say we have enjoyed Stealth Inc may be a little bit of an understatement. Jon has reviewed the game on different platforms and you can see these reviews by clicking the links below.
Picture
However now it seems the team at Curve Digital are turning their attention to the WiiU with the announcement that Stealth Inc will be coming to the Nintendo platform later this year. Below we have some screens along with other images and the full press release. However it will be interesting to see how the game will utilise the WiiU and its gamepad but for more on that we will have to wait and see.

Curve Studios’ brutal action-platformer sequel coming to Wii U this year.

Released in 2012, Stealth Inc was created to answer a single question; “Why do Stealth games have to be so slow?” The original game introduced players to the trap, laser and death filled test chambers of the nefarious PTi industries, charging them with completing puzzles and platforming challenges across 80 different levels.

Since its original release, Stealth Inc and its PC counterpart, Stealth Bastard Deluxe, have been downloaded over one million times and have won multiple awards - not bad for a game that was started as a lunchtime project and originally released as a freeware puzzle game on PC.

In Stealth Inc 2, players return to the dark corridors of PTi Industries in Stealth Inc 2, but this time they aren’t limited to test chambers – they have full run of the facility, breaking into chambers and exploring an open world, employing brand new equipment in a quest to save fellow clones from human experimentation. For the first time, the game will also include co-operative gameplay via the Wii U GamePad.

Stealth Inc creator and Game Director on the project, Jonathan Biddle, said: “We’ve relished revisiting the world of Stealth Inc. It’s given us the chance to really fine tune the Stealth Inc experience, while also hugely expanding it with the addition of a larger explorable game world, and a more involved narrative.”

Stealth Inc 2 is due out for Nintendo’s Wii U system in 2014, and is being published by indie games publisher, Curve Digital.

Super Smash Bros update

9/4/2014

By Matt Taylor
Picture
Picture
Nintendo have revealed more about the next Super Smash Bros.

Originally announced at E3 in 2011, we should finally see the 3DS version in Summer, with the Wii U version coming later in the year. With the series originally starting on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, this will be the forth title in the Smash Bros. franchise and see the game moving to a mobile platform for the first time.

As well as different art directions and character models for both titles, players will also experience different level design depending on the platform they are playing on. Wii U players will experience levels based on previous console titles and Super Smash Bros. games, with 3DS players battling it out on levels based on 3DS titles. Nintendo also mentioned some cross-compatibility between the titles, with more details expected closer to release.

The most interesting piece of information from Nintendo is the promise that the game will run at 60 frames per second on the 3DS. If Nintendo can pull this off and guarantee a buttery smooth experience, it could be my choice for multiplayer gaming on the move.

This Valentines Day show that special someone you really care & buy them...The Lego Movie Game

14/2/2014

When it comes to building relationships what better than Lego? It can easily be crafted in to whatever you desire, changed at will and most of all repaired when broken.
If real love was as good as versatile as Lego then we would all live in a happier world.

Anyway enough with the mushy stuff. Our odd head shaped head friends are back and this time they are bringing a Movie. The simultaneous release of The Lego Movie and its game is a great move by Warner Brothers and if the past is anything to go by this game will be a top hit along with the film.
Below are some pictures along with a full release.

Harness the powers of the master builders to become an extraordinary LEGO gamer in this action-packed, family-friendly adventure

Step into a LEGO® game unlike any other and become a true Master Builder!  Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group today announced The LEGO Movie Videogame available in UK retail stores now for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, PlayStation®Vita, Wii U™, Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held, and Windows PC.

The LEGO Movie Videogame, released with the highly anticipated “The LEGO Movie,” from Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and LEGO System A/S, takes players on an awesome adventure through fantastical LEGO worlds, including Bricksburg, Cloud Cuckoo Land and the Wild West of Flatbush Gulch. And for the first time ever in a LEGO game, all environments are made entirely of digital LEGO bricks.

“We challenged ourselves to introduce a new element never-before-seen in any LEGO game and did that with environments made entirely out of LEGO bricks, giving players more authentic opportunities to interact with the world around them,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. “This is a chance for every LEGO builder to collect LEGO instruction pages and harness the powers of the Master Builders.”

Based on the humorous and action-packed events from the film, The LEGO Movie Videogame puts players in control of Emmet, an ordinary LEGO minifigure mistakenly thought to be “The Special” — a character prophesized to save the world from an evil LEGO tyrant.  Using the abilities of more than 90 characters inspired by the film, which include an unlikely cast from some of the world’s most beloved and well-knowing properties, including DC Comics Super Heroes like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, family members of all ages will navigate 15 exciting levels in the console version and 45 action-packed missions in the handheld version.  With unexpected moments and twists at every level, gamers will build their way -through a uniquely LEGO adventure on their ultimate mission to bring creativity to their LEGO world.

Among the playable characters in the game are fan-favorites from the film like Emmet, voiced by Chris Pratt; Vitruvius, voiced by Morgan Freeman; Wyldstyle, voiced by Elizabeth Banks; Batman, voiced by Will Arnett; and Lord Business, voiced by Will Ferrell.

The LEGO Movie Videogameis rated PEGI 7 and is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation®4, Xbox 360, PS3™, Wii U™, PS®Vita, Nintendo 3DS™ and Windows PC.

The world Tolkein created seems to be a very fertile breeding ground for video games, but unlike the Lego franchise this title is going for the more gritty end of the spectrum.

We have attached a few screenshots and pieces of concept art but also a few points  on what these are trying demonstrate to the viewer. With the game coming to both generations of gaming we hope it will be able to live up to this early promise.

Lego; The Hobbit, Trailer

18/12/2013

Picture
The Lego franchise is one of the best in modern gaming. Their high production values mixed with humour for both young and old make them a stand out set of gaming experiences.

The latest addition to the family will be the Hobbit although we all knew it was coming either from previous news or the fact the Lord of the Rings game was a huge success. It is still good to see that the developers have taken the time to sculpt a wonderful approximation of Middle Earth and its plethora of characters.

Look out for more news as the game gets closer but for now just sit back and enjoy.

Early Impression; STAR WARS® PINBALL: BALANCE OF THE FORCE

16/10/2013

This is a very early view and we will be creating individual reviews for all of the Zen Pinball tables over the coming weeks and beyond. However today the Balance of the Force pack dropped and I have spent some time on each table.
Just for transparency all the scores are form my first full game on the table and I played on the Vita (My platform of choice for Pinball) with the view 4 option selected.

Episode VI

Picture

Score; 16,386,974

Of the original trilogy Return of the Jedi is usually the lowest ranked film and of the three tables its my least favourite.
Its very well presented with a tough opening trick shot but the table feels too wide for the Vita screen. Its a small thing but it really shows as the other tables all feel ideally suited. Otherwise the basic gameplay feels very safe with the specials creating all the buzz.
I can see it may grow on me but I will have to move from usual view

Darth Vader

The most striking thing about this table is the ambient lighting. The glowing red floor creates a menacing table and feels perfectly suited to the character it depicts. The table is pretty fast with a compact set of set in the center.
The specials are based around Vader specific scenes from the Trilogy and they play out with Zen's usual panache. I can see my score growing a lot bigger as it was just silly mistakes that cost.
The Highlight of the table has to be the multiball sections but I will not spoil why except to say Glow.

Score; 107,097,928

Picture

StarFighter Assault

Picture

Score; Rebellion, 41,993816
Score; Empire, 48,772,780

The two scores above are pretty much the reason I love this table. It defines balance with half the table being for the Empire and the Rebellion on the other. However if you think this is the only duality to the table you will be mistaken. At the start you get to decide which Starfighter you will control and this changes the look of the bumpers (they are in the shape of Canons) to the voices and even the Space Invader style mini game. This is my favourite of the three and I know my score will be climbing on bothsides
Overall for £7.99 I can highly recommend the Balance of the force pack, the three tables have the usual polish and will offer a great challenge. Look out for the full reviews coming soon
