We are proud to announce that Jon's article entitled The Last of Us - this is not a review. Has been shortlisted by MCV in the Games Media Academy Award for 2013 section. There are times you read an article and it makes you want to go back and experience the subject matter all over again. Jon's piece looked at the emotional roller-coaster he experienced while playing Naughty Dogs masterpiece. Everyone involved with the site would like to congratulate Jon on his nomination and fingers crossed we will be celebrating come October. |
All thats left for us to say is congratulations to AK and leave you with a few words from the man himself. Hey Hey AK here! so as has been said we want to give you guys: the community, a place to interact and have fun. After all you're all amazing and read our stuff! We have a lot on the way in terms of awesome fun, Battlefield 3 is the main one at the moment and I am working on other ideas. The (near) future release of next gen is going to call for more fun and online goodness so be sure to get involved now to be fully prepared for the next gen and the shenanigans that will inevitably come with it! we will talk, write and play games making sure we get to know our community and in turn you get to know us! watch this space; ![]() First of all a big thank you to everyone who participated and made the second night an even bigger success than we expected. With a full server for the night until the wee small hours the games were tough and competitive (thanks to some balancing from AK). The vanilla maps seem to be giving those who are premium members a chance to go back to basics while allowing the newcomers access to some great levels of play. The Ranking up that was in evidence was great to see and with all those unlocks newer players were becoming more competitive by the minute. In the AK challenge we have a new top three all from the @bandofbroz. All their details will be added to our new scoreboard to be released later this week once we have all their Raptr cards in. We would like to give a special mention and say a big thanks to @Darkshinobi and @GunnyGoon who have both generously said if they win the AK challenge to donate the prize to the Extra Life Charity. Its things like this that show the best side of the gaming community. Anyway we will see you on the 17th of August at 8pm until then keep PTFOing like the best of them. After the success of our first night, we are going to continue the Gamernights every fortnight on the PS3. Look for our server, 'Backwards Compatible'. We will be doing these until the release of Battlefield 4 and hope to continue on the new game too. Additionally we will be creating a site leaderboard of those players who manage to take dog tags off Aaron's cold dead body in-game. If you are interested in playing any of the DLC packs, please comment below, it would be great to see demand for these as we are currently sticking to the original maps to allow anyone to play. Keep an eye on the site for more community content, but also to see how the leaderboard progresses. See you on the battlefield. Ho-ah. ![]() First of all, we would just like to thank all our visitors for using and supporting the site. We are still relatively young but have grown a rapid rate in terms of views and content. So, today we are very pleased to be launching our dedicated Comics/Graphic Novel section. The section will contain news, reviews, previews and editorials. We are currently working with Dark Horse Comics to bring you early reviews and we will be looking to expand our coverage of publishers in the future. We have already added some reviews including Mass Effect Foundation, Plants vs Zombies Lawnmageddon and Star Wars Dark times. All of which are viewable here Our second new addition is a Meet the Team Section. I must first post an apology; the pictures you see may cause concern for those with a weak disposition, so please be warned. Come along and check us out; all our contact details are on the page and please feel free to reach out to any of us. Which you can do here. We are an ever expanding team so if you have ever fancied yourself as a writer/reviewer/YouTuber/podcaster then please feel free to drop us a line. We are always happy to chat to new (or old) talent. We are dedicated to bringing you as much quality content as we can and will be releasing new sections in the coming months. In the meantime, thank you all for your time and support. The Backwards Compatible team. |
