Picture
Curve Digital has announced the third title in a month of announcements: Titan Invasion.  The game is being offered for one price as a cross-buy title on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

The Titan Invasion collection will include two action titles from UK developer, Puppygames: ‘Titan Attacks!’ and ‘Revenge of the Titans’.

Titan Attacks! is an arcade action title inspired by games like Space Invaders and Galaga, but with many modern features including a full ship upgrade system, online leaderboards and stylish, neo-retro visuals. Revenge of the Titans keeps the frantic action and the distinctive visual style, but expands the game into a unique mash-up of Real Time Strategy and Tower Defence including over 25 different types of buildings and a deep upgrade system as players progress for 50 challenging levels.

Titan Invasion will be available on all PlayStation consoles this summer. Curve Digital has also announced puzzle-platform MouseCraft and Stealth Inc: Ultimate Edition this month, with one more announcement to go.

Gocompare (not really) on Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

19/2/2014

By Steph Dumont
Kojima Productions and Konami have released a comparison video for all formats running Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Both next gen versions run at 60fps but at 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on PS4. The PS4 does look a little sharper than the Xbox One but hey! Where are the clouds? Is it the power of a weather change system or cloud gaming? Nevertheless, it still looks pretty good even though previews suggest that the story is only 2hrs long although some might've missed the point about replaying and side missions.

Thankfully I've got a copy on preorder from www.gameseek.co.uk for £24.75 so everyone complaining about the price/length of game, I suggest you look around.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes gears up for release next month on the 21st March.

The trailer below takes an in-depth look at the Nemesis System, a new next-gen feature that remembers players’ every move, shaping unique gameplay experiences and relationships that react and adapt to every player choice.

If Monolith Productions can pull this off then we really could be looking at the next Gen of gaming. The fact it could also be an amazing addition to the Lord of the Rings canon makes me literally as happy as happy could be.

10 New Rockstar Verified GTA Online Jobs, Including the #CreatorWeekend Selections

23/1/2014

Picture
GTA Online is continuing its growth. It's a shame all the features that were promised are not out yet but with stability fixes and Cheats finally being removed it may be time to jump back onto Rockstar's most ambitious project to date. Hopefully these 10 Online Jobs have the ability to tempt players back and keep the present community GTA'ing for a long time to come. The fact these jobs are community created shows that Rockstar are supporting the work done by creators in abig way.
Recently, we challenged the GTA Online community to show us their best Races and Deathmatches during our Social Club #CreatorWeekend for a chance at GTA$1M and an exclusive GTA Online license plate. Below please find the Creator Weekend selections, along with five more community-created Jobs that will join the ranks of Rockstar Verified content as part of our continued evolution of GTA Online. Once Jobs are Rockstar Verified, they become available during Freemode sessions for players across both Xbox 360 and PS3.

ROCKSTAR VERIFIED

Picture
Twists and Twirls

A complex but beautifully constructed point-to-point through some of Blaine County's iconic countryside. Follow the winding roads of Vinewood Hills as you race from Galileo Observatory through to Tongva Valley. Car selection from the Sports class is key here - steer clear of the Comet's twitchy back end or risk a fishtail festival. Tight turns and unforgiving cliff edges require deft use of the brake pedal, but don't be afraid to go for broke when the opportunity arises.

Picture
Stars In Your Eyes

As the description so eloquently explains, this is "a tribute to the legendary track 'Stars in Your Eyes' in GTA IV". Pick the fastest car in the garage for the long straightaways on one of the busiest highways in Los Santos. Although Creator blueeyedbarbi advises that "you might want to turn traffic off if your reactions aren't quick enough", we think it's better to leave them on for a hair-raising drive into oncoming traffic that could leave the asphalt stained red.

Picture
Monaco Grand Prix GTA ed.

Another recreation of a famous real-world track, the Monaco Grand Prix GTA ed. contains all the features of Southern Europe's iconic Grand Prix race track: empty urban streets, a seafront setting, high end cars, a tricky hairpin, and two unforgiving chicanes that will slingshot you into the race lead, or through your own windshield.

Picture
Casal Dos Ferros Race

A track for the Online racing purist. No novelty factors, no sneaky tricks, no unwelcome distractions - this is raw and unadulterated driving where timing is everything and winning is decided on milliseconds and inches. Use slipstreams to push yourself into the lead and don't look back, particularly as you hurtle towards the water on the final straight down Del Perro Pier... and definitely don't blink.

Picture
Classy Construction

Amongst the mansions of Vinewood Hills, a new build is going up bringing downtown construction workers into uptown 'hoods. Tensions arise between these two tribes, and isolated firefights break out across the elevated terrain. High walls and high end cars allow for a variety of maneuvers in this tricky Deathmatch. We recommend taking the sniper rifle to the top of the mansion turrets or seek out the minigun and own the streets.

ROCKSTAR VERIFIED #CREATORWEEKEND SELECTIONS

Picture
4 Way Madness

This tight Downtown track is spread over four blocks and built for aerial mayhem. 4 Way Madness forces players to jump cross each others paths through a central airborne death zone, flying through mid-air in four different directions. Creator gangsterpdp has placed gas tanks beneath the airspace to ensure that any collision results in instant death. Be sure to max out the starting grid, and then wait until the pack thins out for the carnage to begin. So deliciously cruel and marvelously cunning we couldn't help but select gangsterpdp for the GTA$1M as well as an exclusive CRE8R license plate.

Picture
Crastenburg Drifting Race

French-Canadian Creator WoriedNiko recommends turning the rain on to get the full experience from this tight, twisting race constructed across several parking lots near Los Santos International. Barrels and containers have been carefully positioned to create a series of on-a-dime turns and unforgiving chicanes best navigated via finessed tapping of the handbrake to throw out the back end of your ride into a controlled, smooth drift. For designing a race that brilliantly focuses on a specific racing technique, WoriedNiko gets the TOP CRE8R license plate and GTA$1M. Trés bien!

Picture
Laguna Seca Remake

Previously featured on the Rockstar Newswire as a Job that caught our eye, we gave GTAVDriver a Rockstar Verified stamp of approval this week so that players on both platforms can enjoy this painstakingly detailed recreation of Southern California's famous Laguna Seca raceway. Bookmark it now for long straights and tight 270 degree turns that will challenge all your skills as a driver. The aptly named GTAVDriver also lands himself a NO1CRE8R License Plate and GTA$1M to spend on high end cars to throw around the track.

Picture
Paradise Ally

unseenchaos26, recipient of a THECRE8R license plate, warns that the law of the urban jungle reigns supreme in his well-crafted Deathmatch amongst the warehouses  high-walled street alley littered with heavy weapons, heavy armor and multiple entry points force you to keep moving, so campers be warned! The audacious play is to snag an ATV from the perimeter, and charge through the burnt out cars and buses into the central corridor to try and spring a surprise attack. When the coast is clear climb the ladder to the top of the warehouse overlooking the old motel and pick off your respawned enemies from above.

Picture
Terry's Hangout

The only #CreatorWeekend selection set outside of Los Santos, eponymous creator terrynut6969 scoured the Blaine County landscape to find this cluster of buildings set around a small airport hangar. terrynut6969 has earned his I CRE8 license plate by cleverly splitting the space using wrecked buses that not only fit the derelict environment but create dynamic pathways and cover areas that set up brutal head-to-head showdowns. The added cover allows for surprise attacks using assault shotguns spread throughout the map, while isolated king-of-the-hill skirmishes will decide who owns the coveted positions atop the hangar and the air traffic control tower. Best enjoyed beneath the cold blue desert moonlight.

Please note, in addition to occasionally changing Job names due to taste, copyright or other reasons - we (Rockstar) also from time to time will make other small edits to players' Jobs before making them Rockstar Verified. This includes, but is not limited to modifying spawn points, improving checkpoints or increasing/decreasing the amount of weapon picks ups for a particular Job.

The world Tolkein created seems to be a very fertile breeding ground for video games, but unlike the Lego franchise this title is going for the more gritty end of the spectrum.

We have attached a few screenshots and pieces of concept art but also a few points  on what these are trying demonstrate to the viewer. With the game coming to both generations of gaming we hope it will be able to live up to this early promise.

Lego; The Hobbit, Trailer

18/12/2013

Picture
The Lego franchise is one of the best in modern gaming. Their high production values mixed with humour for both young and old make them a stand out set of gaming experiences.

The latest addition to the family will be the Hobbit although we all knew it was coming either from previous news or the fact the Lord of the Rings game was a huge success. It is still good to see that the developers have taken the time to sculpt a wonderful approximation of Middle Earth and its plethora of characters.

Look out for more news as the game gets closer but for now just sit back and enjoy.

Thoughts On The Waking Dead Season 2 & The Past Is Coming Back In A New Screenshot.

2/12/2013

Picture
The latest Screenshot from season 2, has Clement meeting up with an old acquaintance (not sure if spoilers are ok at this point Theberton again just seeing the picture of Omid is a spiller in itself so sorry for the spolier).

The most interesting thing about this picture is not what it depicts, rather its the imminent release of "All that remains". Telltale will have two games running at the same time. The main question is can they keep up their high standards for narrative?
I feel they can but this leaves bug fixes with two games on a variety of platforms all releasing around t G e same time, the potential for glitches will be high. Let's hope the studio have learnt from TWD season 1.
I for one can not wait to dive in.

Battlefield 4 Commander App available today.

15/11/2013

When DICE and EA announced the next title for the Battlefield series, one of the big features showcased was the  return of the Commander Mode, which had been missing from the franchise since  2005’s Battlefield 2. With an overview of the match, the Commander can be used to support their team, and in the right hands help their team to victory.

When presenting the return of Commander Mode, DICE also announced something completely new to the role, the Battlefield 4 Commander app. The application gives players the ability to join the fight from anywhere, using either a 3G or Wifi connection.

From today, soldiers can now join in game as a commander from their iOS (soon to be followed by Android) tablets.   The Battlefield 4 Commander app is available from the iOS App Store. Android tablet users will have to wait until “later this month” according to the official Battlefield 4 Facebook page before joining in on the mobile mayhem.

Its time to top up that tan as GTAV prepares to hit the beach

13/11/2013

Picture
Get ready to tear up the coast and kick up some sand with the free Grand Theft Auto Online Beach Bum update that will be coming next week Tuesday November 19th. All the new Beach Bum content will be added automatically to GTA Online through our next title update (1.06), and will include two new weapons, a quartet of rugged and fun new vehicles for land and sea, lots of new action-packed Jobs, plus a wide variety of suitably rad new apparel, hairstyle and tattoo customization options. Read on for more details.
Picture
New Jobs

The Beach Bum update will bring a slew of new action-packed Jobs to GTA Online next week. These include new beach-themed Races, Deathmatches, Parachutes, Last Team Standings, Survivals as well as Gang Attacks for those who enjoy a good territorial skirmish.
Better not kick sand in the wrong face. Beach blankets may run red by the time the sun sets on Vespucci.

Here are just a few of our favorite new ones that are on the way:

  • "Grass Route II" (Race): In this sequel to the original popular Grass Route Race, go off-road in an epic heat starting on the North bank of the Zancudo River through the treacherous wetlands with a triumphant finish on the beach in North Chumash.

  • "Survival on Del Perro Pier" (Survival): Skip the ferris wheel for a deadlier kind of thrill ride as you take on waves of relentless enemies at this beachfront attraction.

  • "View of Vespucci" (Parachuting): This leap sends you from 2,980 feet, down towards Vespucci Beach, weaving through palm trees to land on the basketball courts of the rec center. If you've got skills, it's possible to freefall through the first few checkpoints before even opening your chute.

  • "Paleto Beach" (Team Deathmatch): The locals complain that not a lot happens in this sleepy town, so do them a favor and wake 'em up with a barrage of gunfire exchanged between you and a rival team. This Team Deathmatch takes place right on the romantic shoreline for 4-8 players.

  • "Sundae Driving" (Bike Race): Sure to be a new fan-favorite motorbike race, menace Vespucci Beach on your two-wheel rocket, taking breakneck corners as you try and best the competition.
Expect these and lots more Jobs to be added to Grand Theft Auto Online next week.

Picture
New Vehicles
Hit the shore with four sand-and-surf-ready vehicles perfect to take on the all new Beach Bum Races and Vehicle Deathmatches: the BF Bifta dune buggy, the rugged Canis Kalahari off-road truck, the Bravado Paradise beach camper van and making a special return to the GTA series, the fast and stylish Speeder speedboat. All four vehicles will be available at no in-game cost, with the land-based vehicles accessible from the southernsanandreassuperautos.comwebsite and the Speeder available via docktease.com on your in-game phone (call Pegasus for delivery). These vehicles are also available in Story Mode for Michael, Trevor and Franklin to enjoy - to access them, visit your garage property and the Marina property for the vehicles and the boat respectively.

Take to the seas and waterways in the classic, nimble Speeder.

Picture
New Weapons

Expand your arsenal with two new free weapons - the compact yet deadly SNS Pistol and the brutal new Broken Bottle melee weapon which is quite effective at delivering the appropriate message in up close and personal encounters. Each weapon will be available gratis from any Ammu-Nation location in GTA Online and will be added straight into each of the three characters' inventory in Story Mode.

Beach bums with attitude. Hit the coast with all new customization options to style up your GTA Online character.

New Customization Options

You'll be able to deck out your GTA Online character with all new beach-ready customization options including stylish board shorts, neon surfer attire, wild tribal tattoos, shaggy hair for that West Coast laissez-faire vibe and more...

This is just the first of many new content updates we're working on for Grand Theft Auto Online in the weeks and months ahead. Please stay tuned here at the Newswire for word on the forthcoming Content Creator, full on cooperative Heists, and GTA Online's take on Capture the Flag - plus info on some exciting new Story Mode updates as well. We'll have new info to share on all of this very soon.

One Hour in Velocity Ultra (PS3)

12/11/2013

Picture

Early Impressions; Velocity Ultra PS3

12/11/2013

Just the tip with Velocity Ultra

Picture
I remember playing Vertical Scrolling Shoot ‘em Up games on arcade machines. The player taking command of a World War II style fighter plane and destroying tanks and enemy planes, aiming to reach the Stratofortress at the other end of the level, where you’d line up the turrets and blast sections clear off the boss. How can Velocity Ultra revive the ancient gameplay mechanic?

Velocity Ultra makes me feel like an intergalactic superhero. With it’s quick, tight controls and amazing soundtrack, I kept getting caught in it’s grasp. But occasionally I would slip. After an hour in it all started to make sense.

Piloting the Quarp Jet, a teleporting spaceship, the players missions are set out before each of the levels. Most of these range from simple “rescue the survivors” (in the form of floating space pods), to time sensitive speed runs and shooter intensive kill fests. The game uses animated stills and text bubbles to give you the what and why, but most of the time it’s an A to B affair. At first.

With simple but effective controls and my warp skills and weapons laid out in front of me in the first few missions, I was quickly firing lasers, dropping bombs and warping between sections of the screen in no time. The first few levels left me feeling kind of mixed. The game would be incredible one second, with the awesome soundtrack blasting through my headphones, only to let me down a moment later. I’d be flying along kicking ass, only to fire a bomb while using the directional stick and pull myself into an enemy turret, or warp into a pack of bad guys and get instantly killed. I could survive a laser blast, but be destroyed by tapping a turret while preforming a bomb run.

I felt strong enough to let my guard down, weak enough to instantly regret it.

Picture
I couldn’t help but feel that the touch controls from the original title on Playstation Vita would be better suited to the narrow passages and rooms, but playing for another thirty minutes I discovered that I could use the right analog stick and save myself the painfully annoying kamikaze runs. Just as I was getting comfortable with what I had at my disposal, the game introduces warp gates.

After the hour I’ve played, Warp gates are my favourite gamely element so far. It’s a simple concept. The player is faced with two paths to choose. One might include rescue pods, or the second and fourth switch to deactivate a forcefield, while the other path if filled with enemy ships and the first and third with to destroy. I was quickly warping back and forth in order to hit the switches in their corresponding order and collect the goodies laid before me.

Velocity Ultra contains fifty zones. In my first hour I reached Zone 18, Kerridge Gate. Only 32 zones to go.

Playstation 3 players will be able to join in from the 12/13th of November and can purchase Velocity Ultra through the PSN store.

First day Call Of Duty Ghosts stats & a few thoughts

6/11/2013

With Call of Duty being released this week Activision have let us have a few insights into the games first few days.
Picture
1. Activision Sells More Than $1 Billion of Call of Duty(R): Ghosts into Retail Worldwide as of Day One
These are great numbers but remember its sold into Retail not sold to the public this will include all platforms. We are still awaiting user figures.
2. Call of Duty: Ghosts is Gamestop's Most Pre-ordered Next Gen Title
This shows the enduring strength of the COD franchise. The question is can they maintain the level of play over a yearly cycle on multiple platforms.
3. Call of Duty: Ghosts Takes over the #1 Spot on Xbox Live
Call of Duty has always been a strong on the Xbox this seems to be continuing with the latest iteration of the franchise.
4. Call of Duty: Ghosts Sets New High Watermark for Average Player Session
This is a good stat showing players are playing for longer periods. Of course it does not tell us why they are online for longer.

@FuturLab Velocity Ultra is coming to PS3 and Steam with a little help form @CurveStudios

5/11/2013

Velocity Ultra is a darling of the Vita. It's one of the best games on the platform and Curve Studios have decided to play Santa and bring FuturLabs triumph to PC and PS3.

The game is a hugely addictive title and will have you fighting for your place on the leaderboards. With simple to learn controls the game is accessible to everyone but the ability to truly master the game that's a whole other matter.
