THE EMOTION AND INTENSITY OF FOOTBALL COMES TO LIFE THIS AUTUMN IN EA SPORTS FIFA 15 ON XBOX ONE, PLAYSTATION 4, AND PC

The Sports World comes in a huge variety of styles and flavours and the UFC is certainly growing into to its own in this arena. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was founded by the Gracie brothers but, in some ways, it owes a debt of gratitude to the founding father of Mixed Martial arts, Bruce Lee. EA Sports UFC are honouring Bruce Lee within their upcoming game by adding him in as a playable character. Available as a pre-order bonus the chance to mix things up as the Dragon is an ultimate opportunity for all fight fans.

UFC titles are well established and, like most sports titles, they have taken time to grow into themselves. The physics needed to actually portray striking and contact have shown the biggest advancements in recent years, but with EA Sports UFC, the developers have really gone to town. As you can see from the trailer the ability to dominate an opponent is being taken to new heights within the gaming sphere. The variety of strikes, grapples and submission moves help to make the game feel more immersive. Add to this the unprecedented fighter likenesses, you can literally feel the Octagon come to life.

Of course, just because the skills are available within the game, this does not mean you go in and instantly become the next Jon Jones. It will take a little time to become a proficient fighter, but once you are there, the ability to take on the master, that is Bruce Lee, is a mouth watering morsel to say the least.

EA SPORTS UFC will be available to purchase on the 20th of June however if you pre-order now, you will unlock Bruce Lee as a playable character on release of the game.

Sponsored Video - Standby for Titanfall | Gameplay Trailer

13/3/2014

You look up to see an atmospheric explosion and the gift you have been waiting for drops like a giant metallic smorgasbord of gun-toting goodness. This is Titanfall and we could be looking at the release of the next huge franchise in gaming. The hype has been created ever since we first saw news of the game at the 2013 E3 Xbox presser and since then the game has only grown in expectation. This was aided, in no small part, from the game’s Beta where players were able to get to grips with some of what the game has to offer. The internet and YouTube in particular were full of gameplay videos showing off the gaming experience. You can read our Beta impressions here.
Titanfall is the first title from the newly established studio, Respawn Entertainment, and will be published by Electronic Arts. They were however formed from the studio that brought us Call of Duty, Modern Warfare so they already have a pretty sizable pedigree.

We have seen mechs in games before so why is Titanfall different?

The best way to explain it is the way you (as a pilot) interact with your Titan. You are able to pilot your titan from the outset, or activate the Guard or follow mode. These allow you to utilise the Titan’s firepower while you can gain a handy kill or two on the battlefield. Of course, should you want to you can hop back into the Titan at a moment’s notice. Visually speaking it can be great to see all the different boarding techniques available for gaining access to your Titan, but the most important aspect is the fluidity of entry and how you are only out of the game for a matter of seconds.

Once you are in the pilot’s seat a whole new world of weaponry is opened up to you and you can take delight in the fact that you can be an FPS god. That is until you encounter another Titan and then the game really comes into its own.

Even though the Titans are roughly the same design, they do have class strengths and weaknesses that a good pilot can exploit. Mix these with various weapons and powers and you can really make your mech feel like an extension of the pilot. The Titan-on-Titan battles can be epic in scale. Even if the worst happens and your Titan gets destroyed, you can still eliminate the responsible party with your heavy weapons or by going rodeo on the giant’s back, exposing its brain and unloading a few clips.

With these new features and a universal entry standard, Titanfall is shaping up to be the first Next-Gen must have and could well be the system seller for the Xbox One.  With a host of future DLC packs in the works, this could be the game to rule 2014 and beyond. We will be bringing you more on Titanfall very soon.

Titanfall will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. Launch date is the 14th March.

Sponsored Video: Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare

28/2/2014

Popcap are bringing the fun back to the gun with the latest Third Person Shooter based around the Plants Versus Zombies franchise. Keen to emphasize that standard shooters are passé, they have drenched their game in the usual saccharine sweetness associated with the PvZ canon. The visuals look to have the usual honed polish and glitter, but will the gameplay shine through too? With weapons akin to a drunken blend of Borderlands,Team fortress  and Wacky Races this could be a fresh skew on the shooter genre.
It seems that the zany weapons and madcap characters allow for a younger point of entry to the world of shooter games and actually seems like a clever way to grab a whole new audience who may be less inclined to the RTS style of playing. Popcap have a well known background in terms of producing accessible titles, but with deeper, addictive gameplay. Add to that the trademark humour Popcap are famed for and we could see a refreshing combination of fun and great visuals that could be a tonic for all Titanfall junkies.

With game features that are taking full advantage of the Frostbite 3 engine you will be able play 24 player multiplayer matches, take on the zombie horde with three online friends and, just for extra kicks, take to the Kinect, SmartGlass or even your controller in the all new Boss Mode. Customisation tools help you personalise your plants and zombies, and allow for you to add your own wacky slant to in-game characters.

All in all Garden Warfare could have the potential to go up against the big boys in the race to dominate the Xbox One titles.

Titanfall beta opens to registered PC players

17/2/2014

Picture
Just a day after opening the flood gates of the Titanfall beta for Xbox One users, Respawn Entertainment has just announced that the beta will be opened to Windows PC players. The announcement was made via their twitter account, and appears to be aimed at stress testing the game and the servers supporting multiplayer.
Picture
The beta will be opened to anyone who registered their interest before midnight of the 15th of Feburary, UK time. For those who registered, Titanfall will now be available through EA’s Origin store. Yesterday, when speaking about opening the beta for Xbox players, Respawn founder Vince Zampella stated that the company wanted to “max stress it”.

Respawn Entertainment may be learning from the mistake of another EA developer, EA DICE, who experienced massive problems when they released Battlefield 4 late last year. With so many issues with the game, EA saw their stock prices suffered and are fighting legal battles due to misleading investors.

Titanfall will be released midway through March.

Xbox One Titanfall beta will be available for all Xbox One users.

16/2/2014

Picture
At roughly 6am GMT Respawn Entertainment announced that the Titanfall beta will be open to all Xbox One users.

Since its opening, the beta and codes necessary to join the testing have been highly sort after, but it appears that the company plan on expanding their testing to stress test the servers and other systems.
Picture
Vince Zampella, one of the founders of Respawn Entertainment spoke about the chance of expanded the beta to more users, in an effort to “max stress it”. This was followed up three hours later with a message on multiple sites from the Titanfall team. The Titanfall beta appears to be available through Xbox Live as a downloadable title.

Need for Speed Rivals Release Date Announced

8/10/2013

In North America, Need for Speed Rivals will be in-stores starting November 22 for the Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. . In Europe, the game will be available starting November 22 on Xbox One and November 29 on PlayStation 4.
Need for Speed Rivals is also coming to the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC on November 19 in North America and November 22 in Europe.
Rivals was one of my favourite games at the recent Eurogamer Expo, so its release is a hotly anticipated date that needed to be added to my calender.
The launch dates are seemingly tied to the next gen console releases and Europe will have to wait for release on all systems. I just hope the wait is worth it
