Lego; The Hobbit, Trailer

18/12/2013

Picture
The Lego franchise is one of the best in modern gaming. Their high production values mixed with humour for both young and old make them a stand out set of gaming experiences.

The latest addition to the family will be the Hobbit although we all knew it was coming either from previous news or the fact the Lord of the Rings game was a huge success. It is still good to see that the developers have taken the time to sculpt a wonderful approximation of Middle Earth and its plethora of characters.

Look out for more news as the game gets closer but for now just sit back and enjoy.

Rugby League Live 2; World Cup Edition coming in November

17/10/2013

Believe it or not but there is a World Cup going on in England and Wales over the next month or so.
To celebrate this Tru-Blu are releasing a World Cup Edition of Rugby league live 2, the game will release on the 21st of November for both PS3 & Xbox360 with a number of updates from the core game (see panel below for more info).
For those unsure about which Rugby this game concerns it's League, the 13 man variant, more commonly popular in the north of England (even though I played it as a youngster). The game is extremely quick and due to its stop/start nature generally more easy to understand than the 15 man melee that is union.
It's great to see sports titles like this being made as an every point for New fans as well as giving loyal fans a chance to play the game they love.

Skyman will be coming to the fore in 2014

23/9/2013

Skyman the new character from Dark Horse Comics will be making his  first appearance in Captain Midnight #4, October 30th!

Skyman #1 is on sale January 15, 2014, in comic shops everywhere!

Below is a brief overview of whats to come and an amazing visual representation of the man in Blue.
Picture
Dark Horse will unleash its latest superhero early next year! Joshua Hale Fialkov (Tumor), Eisner nominee and writer of the Emmy-nominated animated film Afro Samurai: Resurrection, is set to pen a brand-new series from the pages of Captain Midnight—Skyman!

Skyman is a four-issue miniseries with pencils by Manuel Garcia and inks by Javier Bergantiño Menor (a.k.a. Bit). Issue #1 features regular and variant covers by Freddie Williams II and Dan Scott!

“So honored to be a part of a line of comics that seek to bring back the classic feel of superheroes but in a thoroughly modern way. Plus, working alongside my buddies Josh Williamson and Fred Van Lente is a true treat,” states Fialkov, referring to the writers of Captain Midnight and Brain Boy, two superhero series that are closely entwined with Skyman.

After an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Captain Midnight, a drunken Skyman accidentally kills an innocent man! Turns out he’s not only an overly patriotic zealot; he’s also a dangerous PR nightmare. Needing a new face for their initiative ASAP, the Skyman Program turns to US Air Force Captain Eric Reid: a wounded veteran on the ropes, looking for a new lease on life. Reid must fight off his personal demons to have any chance of surviving the potentially deadly initiation.

When the Skyman Program plummets, Albright Industries brings in a new hero to make it soar!

Updated cover for FIFA 14 UK edition has a distinct La Liga feel.

11/9/2013

It seems Spurs fans are not the only one affected by Gareth Bale's sale to Real Madrid. The team responsible for the FIFA covers have had to create new artwork depicting the Welsh winger kitted out in his new team strip. The cover also features Barcelona star Lionel Messi helping to give the cover its La Liga feel.

Football Manager 14; Why make 1 change when a 1,000 would be better.

14/8/2013

Picture
The hours/days/months of my life that this franchise has eaten up makes for scary reading. The pull of constructive tinkering and trying to outdo the professionals are just two of the reasons that management games continue to thrive.

Sports Interactive are not happy with just making an annual update and this year they have near enough tried to reinvent the wheel.

The list of changes is vast over 1,000 if your counting, with the promise the 2014 will be the most realistic simulation of football management ever released.

The game is due to be released before Christmas of this year. If you pre-order the game from a participating retailer (list can be found followng this link) then you will be eligable for a Beta due to be released around two weeks before the games offical release. Best of all your career will carry over to the full game.
To find out more through the wonder of Social Media you can follow the game on Facebook at this link.
However is Twitter is more your thing then you can follow the game @FootballManger and Sport Interactive's Studio Director Miles Jacobson directly @milesSI
For more details on the changes and screenshots hit the Read More tag.

'Pretty Deadly' Riding into Image Comics in October

12/8/2013

Picture
The Front Cover
Death has always been a menacing character in literature. Now acclaimed writer Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain, Marvel, Ghost, Osborn) and artist Emma Rios (The Amazing Spiderman,Osborn), are bringing a new face to the role. Her name is Ginny and she is Death's daughter.

The creator owned series will have Ginny as its central focal point as she travels across the West on her stead made of smoke. Her description is one of a mysterious, elusive character placed in a world that will be entirely created by Rios and DeConnick.

The chances of seeing death dealt by a female character is intriguing, this is a reversal of the usual maternal aspect of women and it will be interesting to see where she will be taken over the course of this series.

The first issue of an ongoing series, PRETTY DEADLY #1 will be in stores on October 23.
“The book is absorbing us while breathing on its own,” said Ríos. “Sometimes I feel we are hidden behind a rock, gasping, watching the characters do their things.”

“This book has defied my directives at every turn, but made it up to me in a series of goosebump moments where things came together as if by magic,” said DeConnick.
