World of Warplanes Launched at 5000 Meters above Sea Level

22/11/2013

Keen gamers celebrate project’s release in Himalayas

Wargaming, the leading free-to-play MMO developer and publisher, has revealed details of the Everest expedition, organized by seven World of Warplanes players who have tackled the treacherous slopes of the Himalayas to commend the release of the game.
Picture
“Although it’s not the first time we’ve climbed in the Himalayas, this expedition has been an amazing and special journey for us all,” says the team’s leader Arseniy Gerasimenko. “We’ve broken several new trails, which was a hard, but satisfying experience. On our way upward, we stopped to get some rest and play World of Warplanes.”
The hardy Russian and Ukrainian sportsmen, who are also avid World of Warplanes players and fans, spent over a month climbing in the steep flanks and ice covered cliffs, eventually reaching an altitude of 5000 meters. The group celebrated the official launch of the flight combat MMO action game by setting up the World of Warplanes flag on one of the Himalayan peaks.

About World of Warplanes

World of Warplanes is a flight combat MMO action game set in the Golden Age of military aviation. Throwing players into a never-ending tussle for air dominance, the game allows aircraft enthusiasts to pursue full-scale careers as virtual pilots, earning their wings in intense 15-vs-15 battles where supremacy in the air depends not only on a fast trigger ringer, but also coordinated teamwork.

Players can choose from three main warplane classes: swift fighters capable of engaging enemies in close dogfights, heavy fighters with deadly straight attacks and formidable armor, and ground-attack planes, able to unleash bombs and other armaments against even the most fortified ground targets.

World of Warplanes features more than 100 vehicles from Germany, the Soviet Union, USA, Japan, and Great Britain. Every warplane has multiple modular configurations, allowing for customization across weapons, ammo types, engines, and other aircraft components. These components can be mixed and matched to provide players with the ability to outfit their warbird for any combat situation or role.

This Weekend, The Vespucci Beach Party kicks off GTA Onlines Social Club Events.

22/11/2013

Picture
This weekend, Friday November 22nd through Sunday November 24th, hit the beaches of Vespucci, Chumash and Paleto Bay for the very first Grand Theft Auto Online Social Club Event Weekend.

All weekend long, plunge into a special Social Club Event Playlist of brand new Jobs from the freshly landed Beach Bum Pack, a hand-picked selection of ten of our favorite new Jobs. Drop some sea shells, go for a fuel-injected run on the beach, and take in some of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in the Los Santos Bay area in modes including Sea Race, Parachute, Team Deathmatch and more. The best performers in the Social Club Event Playlist on each platform will score themselves a special vanity license plate reward for bragging rights and to commemorate their achievement.

In Free Roam, look out for an influx of special Event Crate Drops dropping frequently all weekend containing more than double the usual amount of RP plus high-powered weapons, bonus cash and clothing. They'll be unlocked for every player to help you pack more than just sunscreen on the blazing sands.

This inaugural GTA Online Social Club Event also features exclusive sweepstakes giveaways of beach-ready GTAV collectibles, a very special live stream broadcast on Friday and more. We'll be on the lookout for your sun-kissed Snapmatic pics all weekend so be sure to tag them #VespucciBeachParty so that we can find them easily and we might feature them next week here at the Newswire.

Here’s a full rundown of all the action to expect:

Special Event Playlist

Available this weekend only is a special Social Club Event Playlist of new Jobs curated to test your mastery of land, air and sea:

  • View of Vespucci (Parachute)
Show some Vespucci beach bums the true meaning of 'spaced out' with this steep parachute descent from 2980ft. See how many checkpoints you can hit before opening your 'chute.

  • Up the Creek (Bike Race)
Dirt bike point to point going along Cassidy Creek and ending at the Alamo Sea. Shred from gravel and pavement to the beachfront and try to trump the rest for fame and fortune.

  • Water Rings (Sea Race)
A challenging and scenic boat race weaving around the islands North of Paleto Bay. Tip: Look out for a ramp to help you get one over on your competitors.

  • Vespucci Beachfront (Team Deathmatch)
Stop the gentrification of Vespucci Beach dead in its tracks with this Team Deathmatch around and on top of the businesses along the beachfront.

  • Grass Route II (Race)
In this sequel to the original popular Grass Route Race, go off-road in an epic heat starting on the North bank of the Zancudo River through the treacherous wetlands with a triumphant finish on the beach in North Chumash.

  • Sundae Driving (Bike Race)
Sure to be a new fan-favorite motorbike race, menace Vespucci Beach on your two-wheel rocket, taking breakneck corners as you try and best the competition.

  • Procopio Beach (Team Deathmatch)
Home to an infamous truck stop, Procopio Beach has long been known as a place where people come to blow off steam, and this Team Deathmatch along the shoreline at the foot of Mt. Gordo is no exception.

  • Gone Coastal (Sea Race)
Hug the coastline, pull off some breakneck turns and leap over treacherous rocks and islets in this rough race that starts in the LS River and takes you through the Palomino Highlands on the East Coast.

  • Turn the Tide (Race)
In this off road Race along the coast, up to sixteen speed demons leg it out across Procopio Beach and the North coast down through Paleto State Beach to Paleto Cove.

  • The Cove (Parachute)
Enjoy the stunning vistas as you rapidly descend towards Paleto Cove by Mount Chiliad... but not so much that you forget to open your chute. Prepare for a long free fall from 7500ft, weaving and diving between checkpoints and the drop zone.

Following that, we hope to deliver everyone’s GTA$ Stimulus Package before the end of next week. A big thank you to GTA Online players worldwide for your continued patience and understanding and we will continue to keep you all updated.

In case it slipped your mind the stimulus packages are the monetary drops that rockstar promised to players who went online in GTAV in October. They will equal half a million in game dollars from two equal drops of 250,000 dollars each.

GTAV giving half a Bar* to online players (unfortunately it's not real money)

11/10/2013

Picture
Money in the Bank
Given some of the recent technical issues during these first days of GTA Online, and now that things are starting to look much smoother (touch wood!), we are planning to provide a special stimulus package for all who have played or will play Grand Theft Auto Online this month.

We will be dropping a cool half a million GTA$ in the GTA Online bank accounts of all players this month, starting as early as next week.

‘Don’t Spend It All in One Place!’
In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, we will be providing this GTA$ to players via two deposits of $250,000. We will announce specific dates as soon as possible, but are currently hoping to be able to make the first deposit by the end of next week (after we’ve confirmed that issues causing game progress loss have been fixed) with the second installment to happen by the end of the month. For players who experienced cloud server errors, connection issues, and lost game progress and characters in these first days of GTA Online, we hope this GTA$ helps to facilitate a fresh start or makes your continued life in Los Santos and Blaine County extra sweet.

Below are a few more details on how it will work. Stay tuned for tips on how to make the most of GTA$ cash, info on ways and places to earn more cash fast, as well as updates on all the new GTA Online content additions we’re working on for this fall and beyond.

 ·         You must play or have played Grand Theft Auto Online at any time during the month of October 2013 in order to qualify for the GTA$500,000 deposit in your in-game bank account.

·         Players will first have to install a forthcoming GTAV title update which we expect to happen next week. That title update (1.04) is expected to fix the remaining instances of issues that have caused vehicle purchase loss and will also enable the functionality through which we’ll be providing this GTA$ stimulus cash to players.

·         We will announce at the Rockstar Newswire when each deposit is made.

·         Each of the two GTA$250,000 deposits will be made by Rockstar and should automatically appear in the in-game GTA Online bank accounts of eligible players. Beyond downloading the forthcoming title update mentioned above, there should not be any additional special action required by eligible players to redeem.

A new title update to address the reported issues of game progress loss in GTA Online as well as other technical fixes, tweaks and enhancements is now available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
This title update will resolve the cause of players losing their gameplay progress except for some specific instances where players purchase a vehicle and the save does not occur due to a cloud save failure. A fix for that particular issue is being worked on and we will provide an update as soon as we know when this will be resolved.  Fixes in this title update include:
Fixes multiple issues causing character deletion or other loss of progress
Fixes issues causing infinite loading, infinite sky cams, and missing interface options between jobs
Fixes an issue causing the "replay" option to be locked out on certain jobs
Fixes an issue where a player would become stuck in the mod garage when respraying a Sanchez motor bike
Fixes an issue where the Player became stuck inside Los Santos Customs during Online tutorial flow.Fixes an issue causing the loss of guns and ammo
Fixes issues causing GTA races ending early because of players spawning too far ahead
Fixes issues in Last Team Standing where sessions would not progress past the lobby
Fixes issues with network errors when joining Last Team Standing using Quick Job
Added clarifications around when a player is using a temporary character in GTA Online during Rockstar Cloud server outages
Adjusts the monetary penalty for being killed in a One on One match We apologize for the problems some players have been experiencing with lost characters or game progress due to this issue – please stay tuned for updates as we continue to investigate this. In the meantime, please always remember to save your game before leaving GTA Online, otherwise you may lose any progress since your last save – this can be done by exiting back to Single Player through the pause menu. Until downloading the title update above and in order to minimize the chances of any further data loss, if at any point you receive the message “Rockstar Cloud Servers are unavailable”, please do not either select the "Retry" option or create a temporary Character to play GTA Online. Instead, you should exit to GTAV Story Mode and try entering GTA Online again through the menu in Story Mode. Please also stay tuned or subscribe to the GTA Online Status Updates articleat the Rockstar Support site for the latest word on common known technical issues and fixes.

GTA Online Updates coming today

4/10/2013

Picture
Today Rockstar are starting to address some of the problems GTA online has had in the form of a patch. The full details are below but all we can hope is this will make the game more stable so we can finally get some Los Santos multiplayer under our belts
Thank you everyone for continuing to bear with us since Tuesday’s initial roll out of Grand Theft Auto Online – we’re aware that a variety of technical difficulties have made it difficult to get access and that the experience has been a bit less than smooth for many of you who jumped in straight away, so here are a few updates as of this afternoon to keep you all apprised. At the Rockstar Games Support site, there is adedicated article listing out the most common technical issues being reported. Things are changing and developing frequently but here are some latest updates as of this afternoon:For PlayStation 3 users, a PlayStation Network server issue was detected that was limiting the amount of possible concurrent users. This was preventing most players from accessing GTA Online altogether and as of this morning, that problem was resolved.
There is an issue that is preventing some players from getting through the first tutorial mission across both platforms. Many players have been able to get through this with repeated retries, and we are working on unblocking this for everyone as soon as possible.
This morning, we experienced some instability across the GTA Online services which is affecting even people who have progressed beyond the tutorial mission. We are identifying these issues now and are working to restore stability for users as soon as possible.
For the time being and until we have been able to get everybody access to GTA Online and things are running smoothly, we have disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs. Players can however keep on earning GTA$ by pulling off Jobs and other profitable gameplay activities rather than purchasing cash packs.

You can keep updated on these and other common issues by subscribing to the GTA Online Launch Status Rockstar Support article at http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200426246-GTA-Online-Launch-Status-Latest-Updates-. Subscribers will be sent an automatic notification as updates happen.

All of these initial technical issues will be ironed out as soon as we can. Please know that the entire team here at Rockstar and all of our relevant partners are and will continue to be working around the clock to get the experience to be as smooth as possible, as soon as possible.

In the meantime, for anyone experiencing technical problems, we encourage you to report them to our dedicated Support Team atSupport.RockstarGames.com and at twitter.com/RockstarSupport. This is the best place to get direct technical help and we are constantly looking at the most commonly reported issues there to resolve.

For those of you who have been getting into and playing GTA Online, we also encourage you to please share your gameplay experience feedback with us at GTAOnline@rockstargames.com so that we may know what aspects you’re liking and disliking to help guide how the game will grow and evolve past this initial period.

Thanks again everyone for your patience and your support – we will continue to keep you updated.

Fan designed gun enters Metro; Last Light

19/9/2013

The video above shows some animation created by developer 4A games for a new weapon being integrated into their 2013 release Metro; Last Light.

The difference with this piece of DLC is that it was designed as part of a competition run by GamePlanet.co.nz. The winner was Alexandre Bannwarth, a 1st year design student at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

As the name of the gun suggests it was created by using spare parts from a bike. The premise that the people who live in the Metro are scavengers and are able to adapt anything they find in the name of defense make the design even more ingenious.

The Multi Barreled Bicycle Shotgun appears in the latest DLC pack for Metro: Last Light, the aptly named ‘Developer Pack’, available to download now.

For the full story on how Alexandre’s design became reality, including his own design notes and work-in-progress images taken from 4A’s development process, visit GamePlanet.co.nz.

For more images of the weapon check out the Gallery here.

Special Effect launch their first ever crowd funding project – ‘PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES’

13/9/2013

Its not often we will paste a full press release and sit back, however this release from Special Effect is one of the times where my shortened description would not really be good enough to convey the full message. So please take a look and do two things past the post on and think about supporting this great charity.
Many Thanks
Backwards Compatible team
SpecialEffect, the charity that enables people with disabilities to play games through adapted technology, have today appealed to all gamers to support their first ever crowdfunding project, codenamed PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES.

SpecialEffect aims to raise £5950/€6955/$9190 in order to purchase one new specialist Eye Control unit. This equipment will help many people with severe disabilities to enjoy and play games, levelling the playing field and creating a better quality of life. If they raise double the amount, SpecialEffect will buy two of these amazing pieces of equipment.  Eye Control technology can be particularly helpful for those suffering from locked-in syndrome, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy amongst many others conditions. Together with the technical and medical expertise of the SpecialEffect team, Eye Control technology can not only enable people to access and play games, but assist with rehabilitation, build self-esteem and help create a better quality of life through playing games.

But it’s not all one way. In return for the pledges made by supporters, apart from the amazing reward of knowing that your pledge will help many people with disabilities to enjoy games, SpecialEffect have designed a range of rewards. Whether it’s being included on the ‘Roll of Honour’, being featured in the ‘Video Credits’, or a place on the ‘Virtual Plaque’, there are unique rewards available for all supporters. At the top of the list is being invited to visit for a full day at the SpecialEffect National Accessible Games Centre’ where supporters get to meet the team and see the fantastic work they do.

And here’s what a difference this campaign can make – “The look on Henry’s face when he first used the eye-gaze to control something on screen was indescribable… for the first time he could play with something completely on his own. It was a landmark moment for us as a family.” Rob, Henry’s Dad.

CEO of SpecialEffect, Dr Mick Donegan commented – “We set up, create, lend and support the use of specialist games controllers from our library of equipment. Everyone we work with is different. Some of the people we work with find it difficult or impossible to control parts of their body other than their eyes. In these instances we use computers which are controlled just by moving your eyes.”

“The demand for this work is growing all the time, so we are asking the gaming community, who have always been enormously supportive of our work, to help SpecialEffect through crowdfunding. The PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES project will help us meet this growing demand and enable us to purchase this very special piece of eye-controlled equipment in order to reach and help more and more people with disabilities to play games”

The crowdfunding project PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES launches on Gambitious at 10am on 13th September 2013 and will run for 30 days until Saturday 12th October 2013 and you can watch the video and pledge your support here – www.gambitious.com/projects/3576

To meet the team and see with your own eyes the amazing work that SpecialEffect do and to try out  Eye Control game playing for yourself, please visit the SpecialEffect team at The EuroGamer Expo between 26th September to 29th September at Earl’s Court, London, United Kingdom.

First of all, an introduction to this new update. We will take a quick whiz around the site from the week that has passed and post up a few of the highlights. So, without further ado, here we go:

Our first Community cast

Picture
Our resident Community manager AK hosted the first Community cast featuring a few friends of the site. Their topic for discussion this week was the Call of Duty Ghosts Reveal. Our three guests were @iTzViiveyy, @Gunns4Show and @NightshadowGame Give them all a twitter Follow, they are a great group of guys. The cast at the moment is in video form and can be viewed on the Community page of the site. We will be continuing with the community casts so keep an eye out as we will be getting as many of you on the air as we can.

A new writer is among us.

We have had a new writer join the site and you can read his first piece here. Its entitled 'Remember When' and is a look at the state of gaming as it stands and also a request for the direction Rob would like it go in.
Rob has also added his details to our Meet the Team section which you can check out here.

Hi Guys AK here! With Jon and Paul being away for this week’s BC Community Night It’s down to me to do the Battle report! WE were blighted with spawn trappers this week and it was rather infuriating for the best part because I couldn’t get out of the spawn so you could get my tags!

@BandofBROZ have upped the game and Dusty and Shinobi have shot into a clear lead, taking 1st and 2nd places!

Thank you everyone for coming along and taking part. The next evening will be on the 31st August 2013! So mark your calendars and keep it free.

See you on the battlefield!

BC writer receives a Games Media Award Nomination

8/8/2013

We are proud to announce that Jon's article entitled
The Last of Us - this is not a review. Has been shortlisted by MCV in the Games Media Academy Award for 2013 section.

There are times you read an article and it makes you want to go back and experience the subject matter  all over again. Jon's piece looked at the emotional roller-coaster he experienced while playing Naughty Dogs masterpiece.

Everyone involved with the site would like to congratulate Jon on his nomination and fingers crossed we will be celebrating come October.
