8/1/2015

Hot on the heels of November’s hugely successful release of Pokémon Omega Rubyand Pokémon Alpha Sapphire for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems comes the latest Pokémon video game soundtrack to release on iTunes—the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Super Music Collection.
Picture
The Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Super Music Collectionfeatures well-known tracks from the 2003 release of Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire that have been lovingly re-imagined and re-recorded by GAME FREAK’s team of composers, including Junichi Masuda and Shota Kageyama.

The soundtrack, which provides the audio backdrop to players’ adventures in the beloved Hoenn region, was inspired by Japan’s main island of Kyushu. The latest Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS technology has allowed GAME FREAK’s composers to create a soundtrack that evokes the beauty and mystery of Hoenn and brings to life the Trainer’s adventures along the way.

Smash Bros 3DS:  First Impressions

19/9/2014

By Chris Murray
Picture
Oh Man. Give me more Smash Bros already! Yes, this week I finally got a chance to play one of my most anticipated titles for the 3DS Smash Bros. Unfortunately for me, the full game is still a few weeks away from being released in the UK. So I’ll have to make do with the demo until then.  Although the demo is not actually available until the 19th of September, Club Nintendo members received multiple redeem codes for a somewhat special versions the demo that they can share with friends.

Fortunately for me, I received one of these codes from Fellow BC writer Matt. Thanks buddy!
Incase you’re wondering, this “somewhat special” version of the demo allows limitless plays. Whereas the one available to the public on the 19th is limited to thirty plays.

So don't worry. No extra characters to choose from or other stages. The Smash Bros demo allows players to choose from five characters from the  roster Smash Bros has to offer. Nintendo’s star player and regular to the series, Mario. Link from the Legend of Zelda franchise. Pokemon favourite, Pikachu the little yellow electric hamster and two newcomers. Villager from the Animal Crossing game’s and wait for it… Capcom’s Megaman!  This is just a small handful of the whopping thirty one other characters there are in the full game. That’s not even including the unlock-able ones. There is only one stage to choose from in this demo. But again this is from a large list of twenty six others the final game has to offer. Talk about value for money!

Gameplay for the most part is fairly simple and hasn't changed much from the previous instalments. I’ve not played these in a very long time however so I could be wrong. A and B buttons are the main form of attacks. But use these with the stick pushing them in different directions and you will open up various other attacks you can use to knock your opponents out of the map etc. Good old Smash Bros…. I think.

Each character has whats called a “Final Smash”. Meaning, smash the floating orb that will appear randomly throughout the battles, and receive a super powerful and stylish attack in return that knocks the opponents off the map with ease. Megaman’s Final Smash in particular is pretty great! Shooting a large orb from his Buster Cannon that absorbs opponents into it if they get to close. After this, Megaman then summons multiple versions of himself, all of which then shoot a very large blast from each of their cannons. If you get caught in this then its game over. Well, until you respawn at least.

Frame rate is superb also despite all the chaos happening onscreen. I’ve not seen any technical hitches, so thats a good thing. Its a very pretty game for that matter too. You would think it would be hard to keep track of your chosen character with so much happening. The 3DS version however has a slightly stylised look to it, adding a thick outline over each character.

All in all Smash Bros seems like it will be a solid addition to the 3DS, and when its eventually released a solid addition to the Wii U for that matter. I genuinely cant wait to play more of it

Smash Bros 3DS is released on the Third of October. Not long now! Unfortunately other than “Winter 2014”, there is no official release date for the Wii U version just yet. I’m sure it will be soon though. I hope!  All I know is that I definitely want to play it. Just need a Wii U first…

Super Smash Bros update

9/4/2014

By Matt Taylor

Picture
Nintendo have revealed more about the next Super Smash Bros.

Originally announced at E3 in 2011, we should finally see the 3DS version in Summer, with the Wii U version coming later in the year. With the series originally starting on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, this will be the forth title in the Smash Bros. franchise and see the game moving to a mobile platform for the first time.

As well as different art directions and character models for both titles, players will also experience different level design depending on the platform they are playing on. Wii U players will experience levels based on previous console titles and Super Smash Bros. games, with 3DS players battling it out on levels based on 3DS titles. Nintendo also mentioned some cross-compatibility between the titles, with more details expected closer to release.

The most interesting piece of information from Nintendo is the promise that the game will run at 60 frames per second on the 3DS. If Nintendo can pull this off and guarantee a buttery smooth experience, it could be my choice for multiplayer gaming on the move.

This Valentines Day show that special someone you really care & buy them...The Lego Movie Game

14/2/2014

When it comes to building relationships what better than Lego? It can easily be crafted in to whatever you desire, changed at will and most of all repaired when broken.
If real love was as good as versatile as Lego then we would all live in a happier world.

Anyway enough with the mushy stuff. Our odd head shaped head friends are back and this time they are bringing a Movie. The simultaneous release of The Lego Movie and its game is a great move by Warner Brothers and if the past is anything to go by this game will be a top hit along with the film.
Below are some pictures along with a full release.

Lego; The Hobbit, Trailer

18/12/2013

Picture
The Lego franchise is one of the best in modern gaming. Their high production values mixed with humour for both young and old make them a stand out set of gaming experiences.

The latest addition to the family will be the Hobbit although we all knew it was coming either from previous news or the fact the Lord of the Rings game was a huge success. It is still good to see that the developers have taken the time to sculpt a wonderful approximation of Middle Earth and its plethora of characters.

Look out for more news as the game gets closer but for now just sit back and enjoy.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS LIMITED EDITION & LUIGI SPECIAL EDITION NINTENDO 3DS XL CONSOLES COMING TO EUROPE

15/10/2013

Picture
Picture
The month of November is set to be an exciting one for Nintendo fans, with the announcement of two themed Nintendo 3DS XL consoles inspired by The Legend of Zelda series and Mario’s trusty brother, Luigi. One new addition is ideal for enjoying Link’s new adventure in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, with the other representing a perfect console to mark the Year of Luigi. Both consoles will launch across Europe this November.

Luigi will be leading the way on 1st November with the launch of the LUIGI SPECIAL EDITION Nintendo 3DS XL available exclusively at store.nintendo.co.uk. While the base layer of the console is white, Luigi has his prints all over the console with his silhouette covering the shell in two shades of his favourite colour, green! The year of 2013 has been a busy one for Luigi. Whilst celebrating the 30th anniversary of his videogaming debut in Mario Bros., he has starred meanwhile in Nintendo 3DS titles such as Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros., where the power of Dreamy Luigi holds the key to defeating old foe Bowser and the ghostly bat king Antasma. While on Wii U, the green brother takes centre stage in New Super Luigi U, a whole platforming adventure of 82 courses tailored to the man himself.

Zelda fans who have eagerly been awaiting the 22nd November launch of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds can also on the same day get their hands on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Limited Edition Nintendo 3DS XL console. With a download code for the game included with this Limited Edition hardware purchase, fans will be able to download the game directly from Nintendo eShop to begin their adventure. For any Zelda fan, the console is instantly recognisable, with the top shell and the inside of the console decked out in an iconic gold colour, and the bottom shell all black, with a Triforce logo emblazoned across each side. When the console is opened therefore, the double Triforce logo of the game is formed!

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which follows on from the story of the 1992 Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, enjoy a whole new adventure in the kingdom of Hyrule where Link can now become a drawing to move along walls, allowing a new dimension when solving the fresh set of puzzles on offer. Other new aspects include greater freedom to tackle the various dungeons in the order you want, while many of the most essential items at Link’s disposal will be available early on at a shop run by the character Ravio, who’ll let you rent or buy items before embarking on your next dungeon adventure.

As a final Zelda-themed update for fans, when the packaged version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds releases in stores on 22nd November, the front cover will be reversible for fans to choose between displaying the nostalgic image of the cover in classic gold, or in full colour. So whether you are a veteran or a newcomer to The Legend of Zelda series, you can choose how to display your copy of this latest Link offering on your mantelpiece!

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, and just hearing the name James Pond makes me miss my old Sega Mega Drive.

Well the folks at System 3 the most successful independent publisher in the UK, are bringing the underwater agent to pretty much every format imaginable from Android to the Vita and the next gen consoles. The mobile platforms will just get a straight conversion from the retro classic. The handhelds console and PC will be receiving a whole new reimaging of the classic game.

The Red and White Skew of the 2DS
Today Nintendo have sounded that a new style handheld will be coming to the market in October 2013. The 2DS is a stripped back version of their market leading 3DS.
The 2DS looks more like a tablet then it's Clam style sibling and with its reduced cost should prove popular come the Autumn.
Some have questioned the move but what Nintendo are showing here, is the desire to capture the entry level gamer at a young age. This is a great move for both the company and the industry as market growth is vital for gaming to grow as an entertainment medium.Below you can find the full Press release.
