F1™ 2016 TO FEATURE IMMERSIVE TEN YEAR CAREER MODE

27/5/2016

SAFETY CAR, VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR AND NEW BAKU CIRCUIT ALSO ANNOUNCED

Picture
Codemasters® and Koch Media today announced that F1™ 2016, the official videogame of the 2016 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, will include the most immersive career mode ever featured in the franchise. F1 2016 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Windows PC (DVD and via Steam) this summer.

F1 2016’s new career mode will take gamers deeper into the world’s most glamorous, exciting and prestigious motorsport, both on and off the track. The life-like recreation of the sport will be further enhanced by the addition of the sport’s iconic Safety Car and Virtual Safety Car, as well as the introduction of the challenging new street circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan for the 2016 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX OF EUROPE.

“F1 2016 is a massive step forward for the franchise”, said Lee Mather, Principal Games Designer at Codemasters. “The new career mode sits at the heart of the game and allows gamers to create their own legend over a career that can span for up to a massive ten seasons. Beyond improving upon the fastest and most thrilling on-track racing experience in gaming, F1 2016 uniquely offers the drama and vehicle development that goes on behind the scenes. A rich car upgrade system is fully integrated into a new and deep practice development programme which mirrors the tests carried out by the teams in real life.”

Mather continued: “The career mode, together with the re-introduction of the Safety Car, the first inclusion of the Virtual Safety Car and a number of other unannounced improvements means that F1 2016 will have more new features than any other year of the franchise.”

In the new career mode players select an avatar to represent them within the game world as well as choosing a number to take with them through their career. They are then free to choose from any of the FORMULA ONE teams, all with different goals and expectations. It may be more challenging to start further down the grid, but it will also be easier to exceed team expectations. Players can earn contracts and move from team to team, or choose to develop their favourite team into a championship contender.
To complement the on-track experience, and to expand the realism of the Career mode, F1 2016 includes stunning hospitality areas for each team that act as the player’s game hub. In this area they will work with their Research and Development Engineer and Player Agent to develop their progress both on and off the track. To further enhance the immersion, players will also be able to spot other key figures from the paddock within the hospitality areas.

In what is already a very exciting season, the 2016 season sees Azerbaijan become the latest addition to the FORMULA ONE calendar, with capital city Baku playing host to what could very well be the fastest street circuit of the season. Early screenshots show off the new time of day editor which allows players to dramatically customise the visuals of the race experience. The brand-new Haas F1 Team makes their debut in the 2016 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, and in the process become the first all-American-led F1 team in three decades.

Follow Codemasters F1 games blog and social channels on Twitter and Facebook for future updates. Further details will be released on the upcoming game soon.

World of Tanks Takes the Course of Feedback-Driven Development

25/5/2016

Picture

The newest update introduces long-awaited changes to tanks, UI and UX elements

Wargaming is excited to bring a pack of community-requested changes to World of Tanks with Update 9.15, which will be released May 25 for Europe and North America, and May 30–31 in Asia and Korea. Coming to the game in this update are balance tweaks to tanks, as well as changes to UI and UX elements and further physics and sound improvements—all of which have been implemented off feedback the dev team has received from players.
Evolution in World of Tanks is a gradual process, but thanks to players, the dev team addressed elements that truly take their experience up a gear. A number of popular mods have been added to the client to make it more user friendly. Now it’s possible to extend Garage filters, view several previously hidden vehicle characteristics, which will change in real-time when certain upgrades are used, and more, in a safe and easy way.

“Work on Update 9.15 started with having a conversation with the players,” said Anton Pankov, World of Tanks Global Publishing Producer. “We connected with them on social media, our forums, during player gatherings; spoke to opinion leaders in the community and trialed changes on test servers to set our priorities. It’s invaluable, and from this we’re able to further polish features and mechanics.
“In the future, we’ll be addressing more player requests, and introducing the sandbox: the first step in one of the biggest changes in World of Tanks history. We’ll be rebalancing every single tank in the game—a truly massive task. Feedback matters more than ever. We’ll be in close communication with the community every step of the way because it’s only by working together that we can make World of Tanks the best experience possible.”

The improved physics and sound, which were introduced last update, are still being enhanced. Now you’ll find the chance of your tank toppling over has been decreased, the damage you take from falling has been lowered, and you won’t find yourself getting stuck on the scenery right when it matters. Uniting all of these features is engine optimization, which should improve performance depending on the configuration of your computer, as well as ensure FPS stability. Gaming updates for Windows 10 UWP from today

10/5/2016

Picture
At the recent Microsoft’s Build Developers Conference, head of Xbox, Phil Spencer announced several updates for PC gamers coming to the Universal Windows Platform on Windows 10. Today, we’re rolling out some of these updates including the ability for PC gamers to disable V-Sync and adding support for NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync. We’re also adding the ability for unlocked framerate refresh for UWP games.

These updates allow for PC games built using UWP to support these technologies, just as classic (Win32) PC games can today. Support for unlocked frame rate and our partner’s technologies can improve visual fidelity by eliminating screen tearing, reducing lag and stutter, and other visual artifacts. Developers with games in the Windows Store can begin testing with these new features today. They can then release an update for their games to integrate today’s UWP updates.

We will be announcing more soon, including when updates will arrive for “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition,” “Forza Motorsport 6: Apex beta” and more. In the meantime, visit the DirectX Developer Blog, Xbox Wire, or the Windows Experience Blog to learn more.

Official Mod Support & Steam Workshop for Total War: WARHAMMER Announced!

5/5/2016

Picture
Creative Assembly is pleased to announce that both the Assembly Kit and Steam Workshop support will be added to Total War: WARHAMMER for launch. The development team will be assisting some modders in readying their mods to release day and date with the game itself.

Though it was announced previously that the title would not benefit from official mod and Workshop support, CA and Games Workshop have been working away on the paperwork to make this much-demanded fan feature a reality.
So, from launch, players will be able to:

Visit Steam Workshop For TW: WARHAMMER – and upload, browse, follow, discuss and install available mods straight from Steam, and access and manage them from the new Total War Mod Manager.

Get the Assembly Kit – CA’s modding tool box previously released for S, will release with the Database Editor and BOB for modifying and exporting database tables and campaign start positions, with the aim to add further functionality, including battle map editing, later in the year.

Download Mods – Attendees to CA’s Mod Summits over the last three years will be supplied early access to the game, to help populate the Steam Workshop from day one. Also, well-known modders Magnar and Dresden will receive specific help from the dev team to produce certain mods. Magnar is designing a Legendary Lord Start Position Mod; customising start positions so that Legendary Lords will start in different locations from Race Leaders, while Dresden is engineering a Regional Occupation Mod; altering the settlement rules to enable each race to settle every region.

Alongside the enabling of Steam Workshop, the DotA2 Team at Valve announced last week that they will be accepting submissions for a new Warhammer-themed treasure to mark the release of the game. Also free for any pre-orders made on the platform, further details can be found here: http://blog.dota2.com/2016/04/warhammer-comes-to-the-dota-2-workshop/
Total War: WARHAMMER is available from the 24th May. Tune in to Twitch now for a look at the Greenskins campaign twitch.tv/totalwarofficial

Take a Front Seat to History in Wargaming’s New 360° Video

3/5/2016

Panoramic technology melds with CG to show World War II from a unique angle

Picture
Wargaming is excited to be resurrecting a part of history and sharing it with the world in a unique 360° video project: War Knows No Nation. This video rekindles the memories of three veteran World War II tankers, blending live action panorama footage with CG scenes for the very first time.

The three veterans share their experiences from the war, taking the viewer from its advent. Tom Sator from the USA served in the 4th Armored Division of the United States Army, and participated in battles in Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia. David Render is one of the last surviving D-Day veterans from the UK, who served in the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, and became a tank commander at the age of 19. Finally, Aleksandr Fen is a retired major-general from Belarus, who served in the 84th separate tank brigade and 31st tank brigade, and fought in the Battle of Kursk and Stalingrad.
“We’re truly passionate about history and want to share it with the world,” said Tracy Spaight, Director of Special Projects at Wargaming. “We do it with every new historical video we produce. In ‘War Knows No Nation’, we experimented with technology and mixed live action scenes with CG scenes in 360°. This unique blend of formats creates a whole new level of immersion. You literally relive history, watching it unfold from the point of view of veterans that fought in the war.”
This new video features seven breathtaking locations across Belarus, Russia, the USA, and the UK, providing unparalleled insight into a time that shaped the past. Watch history come alive using cutting-edge technology; view locations painstakingly recreated with authentic uniforms and real tanks; experience thrilling tank battles realized in CG. All this, combined with the 360° video format, custom rigging and creative film techniques lets viewers witness history from every angle.

“‘War Knows No Nation’ was a unique opportunity to share my experiences with the world that I never thought possible,” said David Render, British Army veteran. “I adore the youth of today, because they're better educated than us. As far as future generations are concerned, we need to ensure that nothing like it (WWII) happens again. It is so easy to start a war, but very difficult to stop it. I hope, in some way, our memories help to give people a better understanding of what we faced during wartime.”
Wargaming is extremely proud to be part of another project with the ability to span generations and let people interact with an important historical period in a new, innovative way. Experience the unique 360° video yourself:
