The UK’s First Ever PC Gaming Event A Resounding Success

9/3/2016

PC Gamer Weekender

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March 2016

Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London

This weekend (5 and 6 March) the inaugural PC Gamer Weekender took place at the Old Truman Brewery in East London.

Hosted by the world’s leading authority in PC gaming, PC Gamer, the weekender was the first ever event in the UK exclusively dedicated to PC gaming. The event hosted a multitude of game exclusives from some of the most exciting independent publishers in the world, as well as some of the biggest, such as SEGA, Bandai Namco and Capcom.

Game exclusives included Dark Souls III, Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, Total WAR: WARHAMMER and Umbrella Corps and there was also PC gaming workshops hosted by Asus, tournaments, talks, Q&A’s and a variety of virtual reality hands on demos including the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

The Weekender was live streamed through the two days live in partnership with YouTube Gaming and was viewed by 125k people and can be viewed again at - https://gaming.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe6g0_HRexw

Below is a variety of quotes from just some of the exhibitors and community...

Jon Rooke - SEGA

“As a top publisher in the PC space the concept of the PC Gamer Weekender was always going to be something that SEGA was keen to support.  It was great to see the event become a reality at the weekend with the breadth and diversity of the PC gaming market on show alongside the passion of its fans”

Gary Chantler - Bandai Namco

"We've had some very positive feedback on our games. The organisers have done a great job putting on the event. This is something the PC gaming market needs and we look forward to more events by PC Gamer in the future."

Laura Skelly - Capcom

"It's been fantastic to work with Future Publishing to bring the European debut of Capcom's upcoming third person shooter Umbrella Corps to the PC Gamer Weekender. We've had an overwhelming stream of people throughout the weekend eager to dive into the team based action and we've heard some really great feedback from gamers."

Gareth Ogden - ASUS UK.

“The PC Gamer Weekender gave us an ideal opportunity to talk to our core audience of PC gamers, face-to-face. The PC Workshops were are great success, giving visitors the opportunity to learn about PC hardware and building from industry experts, and even try building a full PC from scratch."

Chris Pomroy - NVidia

"It's great to see such a PC oriented show be so well attended for its first outing. The feedback from the gamers is that they enjoyed the show as much as they did with GeForce GTX and HTC Vive VR Demo.”

Justine Dieudonne - Wargaming

"It's been great overall. We are delighted with the feedback we have had for Orion, which has had its first community showing this weekend for gamers. It's been a very well organised event and the Future team have been very helpful."

Paul Butler - AOC

"We have had a lot of interest and enquiries, and it’s definitely been worth us being here. Had we known how busy it was going to be we may have taken more space. There has been a good mixture of people from novices to experts attend and asking all sorts of questions. We will definitely be back."

Bethany Aston - Team17

"Great having a specific PC gaming event, dealing with a focused community and having the opportunity to bring them unreleased games to play here first has been awesome!"

John Gibson - Tripwire

"We had a great time this weekend connecting with UK fans and showing off Killing Floor 3, and unavailing a new trailer for Rising Storm 2 Calling Vietnam."

Robert Stalingrad - Excalibur

"We have been delighted with the show and are very much looking forward to coming to next years. The flow of gamers wanting to try Excalibur's games has been constant, and getting feedback from knowledgeable consumers has been excellent."

Andrew Mckerrow - Kasedo

“We've had a great turn out of people and it has been a fantastic first event for PC Gamer. It's been a great opportunity to network with major publishers and the indies and getting face to face feedback from the community and actually seeing how captivated they are has been really rewarding."

The community...

Jason Rummery

“I had a good time at the PC Gamer Weekender. An event where you could see the latest hardware, play the latest games and listen to the guys that are behind my favourite companies and titles is something I was hoping would arrive in the UK. It was also great to chat to people I have only seen on YouTube. I hope the Weekender will get bigger and better in time. I will definitely come back.”

Sam Arnold...

“Really good event. I like the variety of things. I'm mainly here for the games and getting a look at the exclusives."

Adam Gardner...

"Good event. I would want more hardware and more things that I can spend my money on, but what is here has really interested me. What I really like is that it is all about the PC and I’m looking forward to it again next year."

AIden Bechan...

"Definitely coming back again next year. It’s the best gaming event that I've been to and the environment has been really nice, from the people like us through to those on the stands."

Jouy Wolf...

"Access to the developers has been amazing, it’s great knowing what their thought process is and why they did it. I’ve loved getting my hands on some VR, can we have more of that next year please?”

Chris Tomlin

"Enjoyed it. I think some of the games need a stricter policy on how long you can play the games as it took a while for me to get on them. The hardware master classes have given me some good ideas on getting more from my machine. But all in, it’s great to be hands on with everything."

Graeme Histon

“Thanks for such a great event, it’s nice to see PC gaming out of the corners and being allowed to do more. I’ve spent too much money and want to spend more on the games that are not yet released! I will be back next year 100%.”

Xbox and Lamborghini Partner for the Next Chapter of Forza

3/3/2016

Picture
The 86th annual Geneva International Motor Show kicks off this week in Geneva, Switzerland – and in the spirit of the event, we’ve got some big Forza news to share. Microsoft and Forza developer, Turn 10 Studios, are partnering with Lamborghini to feature the all-new Lamborghini Centenario super sports car as the cover car of the next chapter in the Forza racing series.

You’ll have to wait for our Xbox media briefing at June 2016’s E3 Expo for the title or any big details on the next Forza game. However, the Centenario will be available “First in Forza,” which means that Xbox One owners across the globe get to experience the virtual version of this incomparable car before it makes its debut in the real world. With its V12 architecture, the Centenario’s naturally aspirated engine produces 770 horsepower, powers from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and from 0-300 km/h in 23.5 seconds – with a top speed of more than 350 km/h.

“We’re excited to continue our long history of working with Lamborghini and to be part of their 100-year anniversary by celebrating the Centenario as the featured cover car of the next Forza game,” said Head of Xbox Phil Spencer. “It’s an honour to announce our partnership at one of the world’s biggest automotive shows, and we look forward to unveiling the game at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.”

Additionally, starting today, Turn 10 Studios’ Lamborghini Super Trofeo series will create a platform that engages the automotive and gaming communities in a brand-new type of motorsport.

All “Forza Motorsport 6” players can participate in the Super Trofeo series; in the first season, players compete in “Rivals” time trial events, as well as ranked multiplayer Leagues using the 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo. Based on their leaderboard and division performance in “Rivals,” players will be gifted the exclusive 2015 Huracán Super Trofeo – and they will be invited to participated in the series’ second prize-filled season.

Forza is the best-selling racing franchise of the current video game console generation, with more than 10 million gamers having played Forza games on Xbox One so far. This community will have the exclusive chance to experience the Lamborghini Centenario when it joins the largest and most diverse car list of any videogame franchise this generation.
