MCM London Comic Con; Grid Autosport Impressions.

There was a bank of PC’s running a pre Alpha version of the new Grid title from Codemasters. The games were all single player and were a mixture of a day race and then there was a night race on the Sepang Circuit. You were not given a choice of car so I was racing in an unknown GT car.

One of the main aspects of the last game which caused a lot of uproar among Grid fans was the loss of a true cockpit mode, I’m pleased to see this back and must say it felt the best way to navigate the dimly lit Malaysian track. Of course the extras like the windscreen wipers are present making the visual mode feel authentic. I'm glad they have brought back the cockpit view as I do like to flick between this and third person.

The handling felt tight and on the button, I was using a xbox360 controller and I found it easy to feel the corner thanks to the slight vibration I was getting back. This sync is really useful for keeping the you on-line especially while you are racing in the dark.

Visually the cars looked great as did the dust effects as I was spun out by an opponent with only a minute to go in the endurance race setting. By the time I recovered I was back in 16th place a loss of 14 places. The impact felt truthful and it does not feel you can go around charging all comers to get to the finish, however a well placed nudge to the back can make an opponent spin out and that could make life difficult and interesting when the game gets released on June the 27th.
