The phrase “life goes on” is used on plenty of occasion usually it means chin up and things will get better. The team at Infinite Monkeys entertainment however think a little differently. In their eyes death is the only way for life to go on, and now you can join in their world view by sacrificing a plethora of Knights all in aid of the greater good. This good is basically the solving of a number of puzzles all in the name of victory.
The game plays out as a 2D puzzle platformer in this way it is very similar to games like Lemmings but the death aspect is what gives the game its x-factor. At times it feels like a Monty Python sketch but in game form as you intestinally shorten a jump in order to make the next Knight’s passage that little bit easier. This is a game with a sense of humour and if you to have a little smirk when things go bad, then this game could be the one for you. There is no gore to speak of but there is rather a lot of dismemberment. The trailer below will give you much more of an idea of this.
As you could see from the Trailer our knights do have quite a few traps to try to beat. With Electricity, Fire and Ice just a few of the more motion based obstacles you need to overcome along with the base spikes that are usually around the ways to kill your knights are plentiful. However they do not feel like a really difficult challenge. This is good as this game can be a great intro into the genre but some more experienced players may find the challenge slightly limited. Personally I found the game a nice fun challenge nothing very taxing but there are a few head scratchers ion each of the three territories you will encounter. All in all there are just over 50 levels in the three areas and there is a time and star challenge associated with each level. This does help give levels replay value depending on your competitiveness. However the fun is really in the solving of the puzzle so once beaten the draw does wain.

Graphically the game is a treat, it’s not AAA level instead it uses cartoon style knights. They are vibrant and well rendered especially on the fantastic setting. The artwork that defines them is comical as they bound around before dying and again this outlines that this is a game to be played with a smile on your face. The best thing about the art is that each level is perfectly created for the goal I did not find any hidden walls or visual glitches which could easily break a game like this. Instead everything was smooth sailing.

At times the puzzles in Life Goes On can have you scratching at your head but when the answer becomes clear you can start to see the internal logic of the developers. It’s the base idea of the game as well as the traps and Respawn points that make this a puzzle platformer to take note of. However remember this is a game with a sense of humour and it is best enjoyed with a smile on your face.

Good - The visuals, great premise, well executed, fun gameplay.

Bad - Limited challenge for some player,

4/5
