The Godzilla in hell series started with a bang (you can find out why by reading the issue or review here). In the second issue however we have a different take on the Kaiju's adventures from Writer/Artist Bob Eggleton. The first thing you will notice is the different artistic style from issue 1. Eggleton decided rather bravely to create a painted issue to show off different creations of Hell along with the various demons who inhabit the place.
The art though is not the only change in style, the actual story has become more of a narrated series of events rather than one chunk of time. This allows Eggleton to really and truly go for broke as we get not only different layers of hell but also multiple adversaries for Godzilla to confront. At times unfortunately this can make the pace feel a little rushed and I would have appreciated more time in certain scenarios but overall the vision of the piece worked extremely well. With the next issue we get to see a new creator flex their muscles with the world's best known Kaiju, this issue though will live long in memory thanks to the epic imagination and artistic talent of Bob Eggleton |
