We love awards here at Backwards Compatible and we have decided to take these in a different direction by allowing creators to decide on their own titles for the accolade they will distribute. Hopefully this will not prove too confusing. so please try to follow along...

If sound effects are the only Dialogue? Is it still a comic award. And the Winner is;

Is this a comic or an extended fight scene?

In my opinion its actually both both it works so well it even carries on into issue 3. The fight is extended but when you see the hordes that the Monk is facing a quick fight would have seemed like an anti climax. Instead we get one of the best weapon creations in recent memory double chainsaws on either end of a pole.

The visuals of this story are what draws you in but there are subtle pieces of imagery that really give it the bump it needs. One instance is the Monk panting after a section of the fight. This gives the story a sense of "reality" (I use this word in the loosest possible terms).

The fight kind of spreads over the three issues but the main bulk is in Issue two. Click on the covers below for individual reviews of the issues.
