Image Comics have been making waves for quite a while now, but in the last year they have been more of a Tsunami. At the eye of this particular are a select few titles that are pushing comics in to new areas of both visual and narrative storytelling.
One of the pearl's of the collection is Black Science, a book created by a combination of Rick Remender, Matteo Scalera and Dean White. The combination of artists has made for some of the most amazing art this year. However it's the subject matter that makes the art so amazing, from Frog like humanoids with electric tongues to Arctic dwelling Ape like creatures the journey we are taking through the creators minds is second to none. One of the treats of this Trade is the art you get after the issues are finished, they range from covers to initial sketches but each is a visual treat. The premise of Dimensionauts is what makes the whole art style possible,as we follow the Anarchistic League of Scientists and their leader Grant McKay through a plethora of adventures in their quest to return home. The story is a mix of Lost in Space and a high concept Sci-Fi adventure, the narrative balance feels almost perfect as we get insights into the central players along with a feast of action. Below are our reviews for each individual issue, this way we avoid dropping spoilers and you can remain as pure as you ant to. However I will give you one piece of advice; if you are thinking about getting into Black science do not hold back this is one of the best new comics released in the last year and well worth your time and money.
