Episode 113; Quidditch Through the Ages, Review

12/4/2018

Unfortunately I will never get to attend Hogwarts, this is due to my age and most of all Hogwarts is a fictitious school. Thankfully though author JK Rowling has begun to dip into the world of Harry Potter literature and bring us the textbook used in the best school of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the world.

Quidditch through the Ages follows on from Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, in that it brings a new spin on the book and all the profits from sales goes to Lumos and Comic Relief.

Episode 112; Thank You for Arguing, Review

5/4/2018

In short "content and editorial consultant specializing in persuasive engagement" (description of Author from his website) Jay Heinrichs both narrates and writes this practical guide to arguing, as well as presenting a historical frame work to one of the most noble arts. Expect tonnes of anecdotes that help to firmly seal his ideas in your brain as you will hopefully look forward to winning your next argument.

Jay Henrichs narration approach is warm and conversational making some of the more complex sections of the book feel comfortable for the listener which is a big plus.

Episode 111; Roboute Guilliman: Lord of Ultramar, Primarchs Book 1, Review

5/4/2018

Some franchises can be very hard to penetrate for new listeners. With it's vast lore and multitude of already published titles The Warhammer universe (consisting of The Horus Heresy, Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer Chronicles) can be rather daunting, however it can also be one of the most immersive and visceral experiences you can have in the Audiobook format thanks to its mixture of fantastic writers and narrators as well as the complexity of the universe itself.

In this first first episode of our Black Library content Paul tries to find an entry point into the Horus Heresy series that will hopefully help new listeners as well as please those already versed in the mythos.
