Warning this article contains Spoilers for this episode.
It would appear that The Arrow has a secret admirer, and not the good kind. This week Queen has run ins with another bow wielding maniac who goes by the name of Carrie Cutter or Cupid. We finally see a member of the Yamashiro family kick some ass and we see a glimpse of what Ray Palmer has in store for future episodes. Not to mention another really good final scene that involves yet another character reveal. Quite a busy episode this week indeed!
At the end of last week’s episode, Cupid was introduced to the Arrow universe. This week the story continues this theme as we learn just who this person is. We see a flashback that goes back only six months ago to when Deathstroke and his soldiers were tearing up Starling City to a scene that shows Arrow rescuing what seemed like a normal by standard at the time. It’s revealed later on in the episode to Oliver anyway that this same person has become totally obsessed by The Arrow to the point of verging on dangerous. A certain character we know so well from the Batman universe comes to mind here. I actually think there was even the slightest nod to her near the end of the episode too. It was great! Anyone else pick that up? |
For the most part I felt she was actually quite a good character. I was unsure after I saw her at the end of last week’s episode to begin with. But she had some witty lines and did come across as being obsessed with the Arrow. It worked well throughout. Quite sexy too actually…
*Cough cough, anyway, the Yamashiro family features quite heavily in the flashback scenes this week. More so than what we usually see in a way. There’s a scene in which we think Maseo has been murdered. To find out who did this, Tatsu takes revenge on a group of Triads. This is the first glimpse we've seen of Tatsu potentially becoming her alter ego affiliated with the Batman universe among others. For the sake of spoilers though if you don't read the comics, I won’t say who.
Another character who is sort of on the same boat is Ray Palmer. Again for the sake of spoilers I’m going to watch what I say and not reveal anything that could spoil it for the non-comic readers out there. Let’s just say you’re going to want to keep an eye out from now on with this character. There were a couple of pivotal scenes that suggest there’s more to Ray just being a rich technological mastermind. The final scene we see Ray in comes to mind here. For me this scene and the big reveal at the end of the episode were the very definition of “holy crap” moments. |
So at this point in the show there has been a pretty ridiculous amount of character reveals so far. It’s actually getting pretty hard to keep track of them all! This week though was a big one. George Harkness. A very well know character in the Suicide Squad books. As we see, instead of guns or Bows’s etc. Harkness uses Boomerangs of all things. The reason for this is I’m not sure but the fact that he is Australian maybe gives this away. In the books he is anyway. Cliché and stereotypical I know but again. Comic’s right?
