Never in my life have I seen someone shoot an arrow at his opponent with a boxing glove on the end of it! It was quite possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Also a very nice and clever nod to comic series the show is based on. Episode six of Arrow aired tonight and featured some pretty cool action scenes among some quite interesting story arcs. Unfortunately, still not an amazing episode.
Did Roy kill Sara!? This week Sara’s killer is revealed, or so were made to think for the majority of the episode anyway. Roy was the main focus this time around. We deal with his turmoil throughout as he try’s to come to terms with believing he is Sara’s killer. The show does a very good job of making the viewer think that for a while too. Even during the scene that reveals some pretty damning evidence to support that Roy may actually killed Sara. Laurel is featured way more this week also. Particularly more scenes with the newest character to the series, Ted Grant AKA Wildcat and Laurel’s trainer. We see a lot of this character. You could even say maybe even more than we needed too. |
The episode seemed to be split between the two stories. Ted’s revolved around him being set up with the various murder scenes the Arrow team come across around the city and more importantly, Ted’s gym. Theres some good stuff between him and Oliver too and Oliver not fully trusting Ted. For good reason too as we learn more about Ted’s dark history. Again the episode does a good job of making you think one thing, when it turns out to be another.
I couldn't help but feel this story arc was more prominent in the episode as oppose to Roy’s though, which was slightly disappointing as Roy still hasn't found his stride yet. There was one awesome thing to come out of it though. That was the mention of the alias Roy goes by in the comics. Arsenal. After last weeks origin episode, we get things back to normal as we see more Hong Kong flashbacks of Oliver’s this time. We actually see a lot more of the Yamashiro family too which is nice. I’m still not entirely sure where these flashbacks will lead too, but from what I’ve read around the net, if your into the appropriate comics then you might already know. Don't get me wrong, I know who one of these characters turns out to be, just not the origin of that particular character hence my reading around the net. |
The final scene this week was perhaps quite a strange one. The show introduces yet another villain with a bow who goes by the name of Cupid. I’m pretty sure this villain wasn't Sara’s killer but time will tell I guess.
Overall Guilty was another very average episode for Arrow and still not my favourite so far. There is a lot of things happening a lot slower than perhaps they should be. The one thing I found with the previous season however is that its certainly worth getting through the slow “build up” episodes to get to the really friggin awesome ones! So stick with it! Or don’t… I’m not the boss of you!
