With Spawn #247, Todd McFarlane’s getting the seat warm for anyone who hasn’t picked up a Spawn comic.
As we count down to Spawn Resurrection and the return of Al Simmons; the original Spawn who has been out of the story since his suicide over fifty issues ago, Todd McFarlane and Szymon Kudranski are busying themselves by setting up the return, which will hopefully please both long time readers and anyone picking up a Spawn comic for the first time.
Since announcing his intentions to return the baton to Simmons, McFarlane has continued to push the story in the right direction. Issue #247 puts current Spawn Jim Downing in the reticle of a number of enemies and supposed allies; helping newer readers dip their toes into the water before making the plunge just three issues away.
With the only person he cares about in mortal danger, Downing’s enemies are looking to pick his bones clean in an attempt to tap into the power of the hellspawn and further their own personal ambitions. We know who they are and we know what they want and the next three issues should show us exactly how they plan on getting it.
We’re three issues away from the big event, and there’s never been a better time to get back into Spawn.
